Looking for Emmons from CT

Query by barb95831

I'm researching the Emmons family. My gg grandfather was Asa (sometimes written as A.F.R. Emmons). Asa was born May 28, 1814. There is a mystery surrounding the place of Asa's birth. His obituary gives his place of birth as Kingston, Canada however on a census record he is recorded as having been born in Litchfield, CT. However, I can find no records in either place. He was one of the first people who settled in Whiteside County, IL. Asa came to IL in 1839 and settled in Sterling from there he moved to Newton and finally Rock Falls. He was married to Elizabeth Bartlett, who died shortly after they were married. He then married Nancy Booth. Asa died December 27, 1902 in Rock Falls, IL. Asa's siblings are; Lehman L., Issac Bird, Samuel, Harriett, Lucretia, Herman, Mary Ann, and Emily. His father and mother's name were Lehaman(Lyman) and Ursula Beach Emmons. The parents and siblings names were obtained through notes from Emmons Family Bible belonging to Harriet Rebecca (Walling) Emmons.

The Biographical Record of Whiteside County, Illinois published in 1900, on pages 389 and 390 gives Lehmans fathers name as Herman. However, another mystery unfolded when I was researching Asa's sister, Harriett. The source I found gave Harriett's paternal grandfather's name as Issac.

If anybody is researching the CT Emmons I would love to hear from you.
