Kia ora Rachael, I am researching the same line of Whakapapa. To date I have had no success tracing beyond my great grandfather Petera Ratahi. Will keep you informed as I progress through. There seems to be some conjecture when it comes to William Donaldson and how he fits into the picture.

Your great grandfather Petera is my grandfathers brother.
This is their line. Hoani was the eldest brother but he died young. Then there was Awanuiārangi,Parekau,Tarahotu,Mihaka,Petera,Te Hura,WhiuWhiu and sister Parehuia. Mihaka is my grandfather. Your great great grandfather was Te Ratahi Parakau & your great great grandmother was Rooha Petera. Petera & his siblings took on their father's first name as their surname hence; Petera Ratahi. Your great great great grandparents were; Parakau & WhiuWhiu. Parakau had two Brothers; Ngarangikaituku (Ropi) & Te Wiremu. Their parents were Kiore & Wharawhara. Kiore & Wharawhara had 2 children; Te Haumarangai who married Moimoi & Mahiti who married Hinemareikura. Now Kiore is the 5th youngest child of Taiwhakaea2 & Toanatini. A Poupou of our ancestor Kiore is on the new Mataatua Marae. Through him we are direct descendants of the chief Toroa,commander & leader of the Mataatua Waka.
