Looking for family members and ancestry of John Keeling b1826 died in Volga Iowa.
Looking for information regarding John Keeling, born around 1826 in England. Came to USA - New York in 1850 and lived there for about 10 years before settling in Northeast Iowa.
His wife was Mary Fletcher - also born in England aroun 1826. Their child, Maria Keeling Whitford was my ancestor. Cannot find anything on their ancestry or what happened to any of their children besides Maria and Frederick.

Hello. I am a member of Archives.com and on the 1860 Census John Keeling is described as a cabinet maker. In 1870 he is a farmer, but his wife is not there. Presumably she has died. In 1870 there is a Maria Keeling, 78, widow born England. John's mother? Family Search is not working tonight. If I find anything else I'll let you know. Andrew Wilson
Have you taken a DNA test? There were a number of Keeling migrations to the USA ... AND they were related per DNA (1628, 1635, 1846).
Have tracked DNA matches with American Keelings and UK Keelings: most seem to be in the Derby and Stafford area of the UK, both close together. This is also a London branch which is related to the Derby/Stafford, UK Keelings.
I did with Ancestry.com. I haven’t had any Keeling connections show up. Thank you for the. Information.
There is a good chance that parents are:
Thomas Keeling, 1800–aft 1826
Maria, bef.1795–aft 1870 Iowa, USA
of
Holmesfield, Derbyshire, England
There is a baptismal record for a John Keeling on 28 APRIL 1826 at St. Werburgh's, Holmesfield, Derbyshire, England, UK
