Looking for "FLEMING (FLEMMING)" Family from Ireland
My name is Rhonda and I've been researching my family for several years only to find a block when it comes to my Great Great Grandfather, Richard Flemming (Fleming) who came over from Ireland with his wife, Mary Rose (Minnie), around 1838 and made a home in or around Franktown, Ontario (Beckwith/Carleton/Bruce). Richard and Mary Rose are buried in the Franktown Cemetary along with other family members.
My family are linked to the GARLAND/KIDD families.
Richard Flemming (Fleming)
1806 - 1855 (born Ireland - died Franktown, Ontario)
married
Mary Rose (Minnie)
1810 - 1866 (born Ireland - died Franktown, Ontario)
Richard Fleming (Flemming)
1840 - 1911 (born Ontario - died Ontario)
married
Eliza Kidd
1848 - 1913 (born Beckwith, Ontario - died Lanark Co., Ontario)
Richard Thomas Fleming (Flemming)
1884 - 1940 (born Franktown, Ontario - died Saskatchewan)
married
Sarah Jane Dalgleish (Dalglish)
1906 - 1996 (born - Marlborough Co., Ontario - died Nanaimo, B.C.)
I have linked most of the above families but cannot find any further information on Richard Flemming and Mary Rose (Minnie)....where they came from, their parents, etc...
If anyone can help...it would be so very much appreciated. A list of some of the SURNAMES associated with my Family are attached (under SURNAMES). The attached photo is of Sarah Jane Dalgleish and Richard Thomas Fleming

Dear Rhonda, I may have written to you before but can't find the email so I'm writing again. My husband is a direct descendent of Richard and Mary Fleming. My husband's great grandfather was Rev. William Fleming who was the oldest child of Richard and Mary Fleming. According to the Diocese of Ottawa, William was born in County Carlow, Ireland. He was the only child of Richard and Mary who was born in Ireland, which we knew from a family story passed down. The home of the Flemings was in Franktown and the 1842 Census for the area says that the couple settled in Franktown, Beckwith Township, in 1831. William's birthday is recorded as April 8, 1829 by the Diocese. So I'm guessing that Richard and Mary left Ireland sometime between late 1829 and early 1831. I have not found any other information about their place of origin or the date they arrived in Canada. I have a family album of photos and don't know the identity of most of them. There is a very stern lady who could have been Mary. I'd be glad to send you scanned photos in case you have some of the same photos already identified, or would like to have a copy of any photo that you would like. I have copies of the wills by both Richard and Mary but unfortunately they don't say anything about Ireland. The land records don't say anything either. I appreciate having the photo you posted on this site.
Best Wishes - Valerie
Hi, Valerie:
This is the first email I received from you. I have some information to share with you...William Fleming was one of 7 children that Richard and Mary Rose had. (William - 1831, John - 1834, Mary - 1835, Thomas - 1839, Richard - 1840, James - 1843, and Eliza - 1847) The lady who did the family research spent 20 years collecting information so I'm very inclined to believe it. She also had a type written short version of the Will of Richard and Mary Rose. I do all my work on Family Tree Maker 2010. I could send you the information I have in a PDF file if you would like or if you have the same programme as I do then I could send you a gedcom file...I'm new at this kind of thing too!
Any photos you could share and the Wills would be so great...I would be very indebited to you. I can send you everything I have to. I don't have much for photos...only recent ones. I even have the information from the Garland/Kidd families as they seemed to inter-marry. It's all so interesting for me. I am making a book for my grandchildren. My two granddaughters are very excited about helping me put it together. So hopefully they will keep it going for future generations.
Let me know how I can send you my information. My email:

Thank you so much. I look forward to corresponding with you. What area are you in?
I'm in Surrey, BC
Sincerely,
Rhonda
