Looking for Furlotte/ Firlotte/ Ferlotte/ Ferlatte/ Furloughts anywhere
We have been researching the Furlotte line for the last 24 years.
Our records start in France about 1679 and our last entry was Feb 2016 We have information on about 12,000 people.
We have exchanged information with many people, but still have many "holes" to fill. The family has lived in Quebec, New Brunswick, Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and all over the United States, as well as France.
The name has been spelled many different ways: Frelat, Frelatte, Ferlatte, Ferlat, Ferlot, Ferlotte, Firlotte, Firlot, Furlot, Furlotte, & Furlought
We are also interested in any old family stories, or pictures. It would be great to be able to put a face to the people in our tree.
Any help would be appreciated. Maybe we could help you out also.

We are the three daughters of James G Firlotte (died Jan 1959) and Eleanor G Evans (died 1996)(date of marriage unknown)in MA. He and she resided in Dinesmore FL during the late 40's til 1959. Do you have any information?
I don't have the connection between James G. Firlotte & anyone in our files yet. I haven't been able to find a marriage in MA yet either.
Maybe I'm looking at the wrong family though
Does any of this sound familiar?
James Firlotte died in Jan 1959
Eleanor re-married in 1964 to a J.S. Hayes?
I have these names listed with these people
Ronda Lynn, Debra Lynn, Eleanor Jean, Faye June,
Rosemary Stella, Jean Marie, John William, & Sandra Jean.
Do you have a birth date or place for your father? maybe I do have him but under a different spelling or something.
Do you remember anything about your grandparents? Or where anyone was born?
I'll keep checking our records to see if I can link anyone up.
Penny
Hi, I am donna furlotte, my grandparents were stella and howard, of New Brunswick, does this mean anything to you?
Thank you
Hi Donna,
Is your father John Earl? If so then I have your grandparents listed as Howard Anthony Ferlotte & Stella Sophia Josephine Gallant. Is this right?
If this is right would you mind filling in a few empty spaces for us?
I believe you & my husband would be related, I think maybe 3rd cousins or so. I think your great great grandfather; Francis Dupuis Furlotte, & Barry's great grandfather; Pierre Firlotte, were brothers.
Is there any information that I can give you?
Penny
Hi Pennie,
My grand parents on my mothers side were Stella and Howard Firlotte. My mother is Veronica. I am curious to know when the family line came to Canada and from where? Can you send me a message because i dont havy any documents or records to follow the trace.
Hi Donna,
The first family member we have listed in Canada was Jacques Frelat. He was born in France in 1727; & he married in Quebec. We are still looking on how he came here, we haven't found it yet. He parents were Jean Frelat & Jeanne Tetron of Saintonge France.
He married Charlotte Amiot, [daughter of Charles Amiot dit Villeneuve & Angelique Metivier], the 14
July 1755 at Notre Dame de Quebec.
Almost all the Frelat, Ferlatte, Ferlot, Firlott, & Furlotte's today are from that couple.
If you want any detailed information please contact me directly at penny.c@sympatico.ca

Hi Penny,
trying to learn more about the tree.
can you help?
were do i start?
love you..
Eleanor Jean is my sister, daughter of James G Firlotte. Do not know grandparents names. Do know that James G Firlotte was married prior to our mother and had at least one son (Jimmy may have been his nickname). John William could be my step brother who took the Firlotte name-we know that our step brother had at least seven children -- names of a few are Donna, Sandra, John, Faye, Rhonda. All we know about our father (James G Firlotte) was that he was an auto mechanic, might have run or owned a gas station in early forties in MA. Owned a gas station/car repair in Dinsemore, FL (now part of Jacksonville, FL). All we know is that he was born in Canada per our birth certificates, but have no names of his parents.
I have a James G Firlotte in 1930 in Boston Massachusetts. Maybe this is your father.
I don't have very much information but this is what I do have
He was 24 years old. Born in Canada about 1906. He was married & living with his wife & daughter in his mother in law's house.
Wife was listed as Vivian B Firlotte. born in 1910 in MA. she was 20 years old.
Daughter is listed as Diana T. Firlotte. born in 1930 in Boston.
The head of the house is listed as [the mother-in-law] Mary A Cole. born about 1874 in Canada. She was 56 years old.
I'll try to see what else I can find on these people.

I have a Ferlatte in my research. My grandfathers mother was Marie Ferlatte and Paul Girroir was her husbands name. They lived in Haverhill Mass.
I have a funeral card for a Marie Ferlatte (found with my grandfathers stuff when he died.) It says she was married to a man named George. This is a puzzle as to why he had this card and how they may be related. Can you help? Email me at cininaz@yahoo.com
Hello,
I think I may be able to help you out with some of this. I'll send more to the email address you provided.
Penny
Hi everyone! I might be able to help just a little. I am Faye Firlotte and yes my dad is the step-brother that took his step dads last name. My grandmothers name was Eleanor and yes for a time they did own a auto repair shop in Jax. By the way there ended up being a total of 12 of us. Daddy's birth name was John William Hayes. He was born is Mass.
IAMFIRLOTTE - are you sure that his last name was Hayes and not Mayer or Meyer? His brother's last name was Meyer.
I've dabbled a bit with the whole geneology/family history bit, and I have to tell you, I definitely feel like I'm in over my head with this one! I'm curious to know if we're tied into your branch at all - and if so, how far back can you go with our info? My grandfather was Walter Stephen Firlotte (or maybe even Stephen Walter...) and my grandmother was Irene Noel. My father is Charles Delbert, though he goes by Bert... Aside from this information, and the names of my immediate family, aunts uncles and cousins, I know nothing of our geneology. I think my grandfather died in or around 1960 (when my dad was 7 or so) and I think my grandmother passed in september of 1991... Is this enough to trace anything back?
Hello Erika,
This is what we have in our records for your line,
Erika Firlotte
Charles Delbert Ferlatte & Katherine Fay Weckworth
Stephen Walter Furlotte & Irene Noel [her mother was a Furlotte & her father was the grandson of Francis Dupuis Furlotte & Eliz. Dempsey]
Paul Francis Firlotte & Elizabeth Roy
Francis Dupuis Furlotte & Elizabeth Dempsey
Joseph Ferlatte & Venerade Boudreau
Jean (Jacques) Baptiste Frelatte & Catherine Savoie
Jacques Frelat & Charlotte Amiot [1st in Canada]
Jean Frelat & Marie Marguerite Jeanne
Tetron/Jetron [in France]
I'm still trying to place the James G Firlotte line
Penny
Well, that was amazing. lol. The only thing is, I believe, on my fathers baptismal records, his last name is spelled the same as mine - Firlotte. I don't know if that bears any meaning whatsoever... But thank you for this... You've provided me with more information than anyone else has been able to!
Hi Erika,
I got the spelling for your father right from the Jacquet River Church. When the certificate was done up for the family it was most likely corrected. I have found a lot of mistakes in the original records that were later corrected.
Do you know when the certificate was done?
For your father's family we have 11 children;
1 was baptised Furlotte, 3 were baptised Ferlatte; the other 7 were baptised Firlotte
I have your father married as Firlotte & as Firlotte [legally] in our records.
I have tried to keep track of whatever original records we have found.
If there is anything else I can help with, just let me know.
Penny
You are an absolute wealth of information! Infact, even from the last post I learned something new! To the best of my knowledge (which really isn't saying much) there were only NINE baptismals - Maynard, Loretta, Winston, Patrick (Clinton), Isabelle, Terry, Norma Jean, Charles and Mary... If there are others, they must have passed shortly after their births, or so I would assume anyhow.
I was also wondering if you were able to answer one more question for me... We have a running facebook group for Firlottes (of all varied spellings) and the rumor has surfaced more than once about there being native blood in the Firlotte blood lines... I was wondering if there was any truth to this rumor - no one seems to know! There's definitely speculation, and it seems to be coming from more than one branch. lol.
I truly appreciate all the information you can provide - I have learned so much from you! Your research into our family is amazing!
Hello Erika
I am on the Firlotte group on Facebook. I sent you the Furlotte coat of arms.
But the baptism's I have for your father's family are
Maynard Firlotte 1937
Elizabeth Loretta Firlotte 1939
Stephan Walter Winston Firlotte 1941
James Terrance Firlotte 1944
Isabel Firlotte 1946
Marie-Anne Jane Ferlatte 25 Jan. 1948- 17 Feb 1948
Patrice Clinton Ferlatte 1949
Norma Jean Firlotte 1950
Charles Delbert Ferlatte 1953
Jane Furlotte 4 March 1958
Judy Firlotte 1961
The last 2 girls I'm still looking for confirmation. They were listed to your grandparents in the church records, but I could not find baptism entries for them
As far as Native blood goes. I'm not sure we could prove it either way. There are some different stories. But very little proof.
Let me get my information in front of me & Ill try to explain. Maybe someone out there could fill in some information too.
Penny

WIN stands for WINTU Indian. You will notice that this lists the father of the Firlotte Children as WINTU also.
We are still checking on this. But several of this family are buried in the Central Valley Cemetery.
This is an Indian cemetery.
Also Joseph Firlotte is not listed in this census. We have information that says he was living in Red Bluff with his "wife" Mary Ann Kelly
They had at least 2 children
Blanche Firlotte born 14 May 1891
Bessie C. Firlotte born around the same time
These second children are not listed anywhere as native.
It would seem this is one Ferlatte/Firlotte who had Native statis.
There is more
Penny
Erika,
There is a branch of the family that spells their name "Furlought" I was informed last year that one of them had just got his Indian Card. I'll check into that a bit more & see what I can find out.
There is a Francis "Dupuis" Furlotte that was supposed to be an adopted son of Joseph Ferlatte & Venerade Boudreau. Francis was born around Carleton, Quebec. His birth date isn't really solid, but he used May 4 1811. He died in 1903 at 94 years old. But in our line the story goes that Francis was actually a Dupuis child that somehow ended up being raised by Joseph & Venerade.
We have not been able to prove this. We can find no records of a Francis Dupuis or a Francis Furlot being baptised around Carleton Quebec near the proper time
All the records just list him as the son of Joseph & Venerade. His name has always been listed as Furlotte.
I think I may know how a story like him being a "Dupuis" child may have started
This was found in the records of a Missionary Priest in Carleton, Quebec
"FRANCIS [illigitime] sauvage de Restigouche ne dupuis 11 mois, baptise 7 julliet 1814
[Francis (illegitimate) Indian of Restigouche born 11 months ago was baptised July 7, 1814]
Godparents were Thomas Labore & Marie Joseph Caplan.
The Remouski Archives say this was a common was for some priests to enter a baptism. Most Indian or half Indian children were listed as parents unknown or illegitimate. There are some cases were white children were listed as "savages", possibly because they were illegitimate.
Caplan, is a common name at the MicMac Indian Eel River Bar Reserve in NB. This may be an indication that Francis was of native descent.
My own theory is that he was the son of Joseph Ferlatte & a Native woman.
According to a relative, Rex Furlotte, "It was common knowledge in Jacquet River that Francis "Dupuis" Furlotte was Native. But it wasn't spoken about!"
I have a picture of Francis & Elizabeth Dempsey's daughter, Letitia Furlotte [Mrs Hugh King] and it is plain to see she is native
Penny
Thank you so much Penny! It's plain to see, when you look at photo's of my grandmother (Irene, grand daughter of Francis Dupuis Firlotte) that there's some traces of native in her- just in the way that she aged... You can see it in my father too - though it's been diluted a little with me, being that my mother is blond and blueeyed. lol.
The other funny fact is that I never really know most of my aunts and uncles real names as they all went by their middle names. I've definitely learned some interesting information.
As far as Jane and Judy are concerned, I don't know if they were still borns, or late miscarriages, but I've only ever been told about Mary - who even as far as my own family recollects was actually Mary Iona... Wow - it's amazing how much can get lost over a period of five decades!
LOL - as for the facebook group, I knew I recieved the COA from Penny, I just didn't realize it was one in the same. lol.

Hi everyone... I'm the daughter of Harold Newton Firlotte born in Gogama, Ontario on June 27, 1928, and married to my mother Mary Kocuk. The Firlotte's in Gogama, Ontario go by the spelling of Firlotte, not Ferlatte. My father's brothers were: Ken, Bob, Guy and Wally (all have passed away). His sister's Clara (passed away) and Fay. There was another sister that passed away when she was very little, her name was Susan. I have three brothers and one sister and we all have children. Not sure what other information that you might need. But I will continue to check this site and see if I can help you any further.
Sergeant Wallace Edmond Firlotte, who served with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment during World War II, was born and raised in Gogama. He was bestowed with six war decorations for his heroism during the war ? most notably, he was one of less than ten Canadians, and the only one from his regiment, bestowed the Order of the Bronze Lion by the Crown of the Netherlands. The Prince personally presented this Order to Sgt Firlotte by Royal Decree (No. 2) on December 8, 1945.
You must be Sherri Lee. Thanks for contacting us.
I would like to fill in some blank spaces in our records if you could help. If you'd rather contact me directly my address is penny.c@sympatico.ca
We are looking for any information on your mother's parents. any Birth, Marriage or death information that you feel comfortable sharing.
Or maybe you could pass this on to anyone who may be interested in sharing anything.
Penny
Thanks for this information on Sgt. Firlotte. I have added it to our records.
I can't imagine the horrors they faced & what they had to go through.
He has done his country & His family proud in so many ways.

Hi Pennie,
I am Suzie (Suzanne) Guylaine Furlotte, youngest of Melvin James Furlotte (April 25 1938 - September 9 2008) and MarieJeanne Belec Furlotte.
I am also on the Facebook group :D
Dad passed away VERY suddenly in September, breaking all of our hearts.
Suzie,
I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. It is never easy to loose someone, & almost impossible to accept when it's sudden.
My father passed 11 years ago & it still hurts, but now I remember all the good things without tears but with a smile.
Please take care of yourself, our thoughts are with you.
Penny
I'll see you on Facebook

Hi Pennie,
You have done excellent work in the Ferlatte line! I have been doing research since 1971, and have learned something new...WINTU..., I would love to know more regarding the WINTU line as my family has ancestors who were Ferlatte ( and all other various spellings ), one in particular was my deceased mother-in-law. She was born in Archibald Settlement. Can you e-mail me some info?
Hello,
Can you narrow down what line you are connected to? We have a lot of information but I'm not sure where to start.
The[Wintu] branch that ended up in California descend from Joseph Samuel Ferlatte son of Charles Samuel Ferlatte & Elizabeth Guitard, of Jacquet River, NB.
But there may also be a connection to the Francis Dupuis Firlotte line in Jacquet River.
You can reach me directly at penny.c@sympatico.ca
Penny
Would it be possible to get more info on Francis Dupuis Firlotte, please? I am interested in the "Dupuis" aspect of your research. I would appreciate it.
Hi,
My name is Justin Firlotte, my Grandfather was Joseph Edgar Firlotte, born in Jacquet River around 1910-20. If you have any information I would be really interested as I have a baby Firlotte on the way and would love them to know their back ground.
My Grandfather settled in the UK after being stationed here and had 5 children.
Kind Regards
Justin
Hi,

Someone told us our ancestors was from Piedmont, Italy and I really dont know where she founds that.
:)
Hello,
All the information we have found says your ancestors came from France. I would love to talk to whoever told you Italy. Maybe we missed something.
I can help out with some dates for Andre & Henriette.
Andre Ferlat was born to Isaac Ferlat & Julienne Comeau [the 3rd of 9 children] 30 Nov 1810 in Bonaventure, Que. He died in Caplan 23 March 1891.
He married in Bonaventure 16 April 1839, to Henriette McKay. Daughter of Alexander McKye & Rosalie Esther Lepage. She was born 25 Nov 1816 in New Carlisle. [the 4th of 5 children] she died 15 Feb 1901 in Caplan.
Andre & Henriette had 13 children [1 was stillborn] Samuel was the last.
Samuel was born in Bonaventure 25 May 1861 & Died 3 March 1921 in Caplan. He married in Caplan 29 Sept 1885 to Marie Genevieve Arseneau. Daughter of Felix Arseneau & Genevieve Bujold.
She was born in Bonaventure 30 April 1865 & died in Caplan 6 April 1886.
Samuel married the 2nd time also in Caplan, 16 Aug 1887 to Marie Marguerite Arsenault. Daughter of Zacharie Arsenault & Sophie Shaw. She was born in Bonaventure 29 March 1866 & died in Caplan 8 Dec 1951. We have 13 children listed to them.
Alexander Ferlat was the 4th. [we don't have an actual death date for him just about 1979]
We also don't have any information on his 2nd wife just her name & her parents names & that she probably died in St Simeon, Bonaventure.
Did you have a this information?
Penny
Hello Justin,
A new baby is such a blessing. Now let's see if we can help with his roots.
I think this is probably your grandfather.
Edgar Joseph Furlotte, born in Nash Creek 13 July 1922. Baptised also in Nash Creek 15 July 1922. His parents were James Alexander Furlotte & Elizabeth Duplessis. Edgar was the last of 6 children.
His godparents were Alexandre Babin & Gertrude Furlotte (she was Edgar's oldest sister} I have a death date of Jan. 1996 in Huntington, England.
We have nothing past his baptism. If you could fill in any blanks it would be great.
I can fill in the past names for you if this is the right person
Penny
Pennie, Do you have all this information in a book that we can purchase? This is greatttttttt stuff. Norma Doucet (Firlotte)
Hi Norma,
Thanks for correcting my mistake, I really appreciate it.
It seems that Stephen Walter Furlotte & Irene Noel were not the parents of Jane Furlotte DOB 4 March 1958 Or Judy Firlotte DOB 1961. This is from Norma Doucet [the daughter of Stephen & Irene]
As for a book. I have been trying to get one done but everytime I think we may be ready to start thinking about it we get more new information.
At this point I would settle for a Furlotte site where we could all add our own branches of the tree.
Penny

I wonder if your lines include the furlong line? I have them in the family tree.
I have a Thomas Joseph Furlong married to a Margaret Elsie Ferlotte
There is a Joseph Furlotte who's mother in law is a Florenda Ferlong.
We have also found some records that are listed in other spellings, Ferland & Furlong both.
But there is a group of Firlotte's from the Kemp Road area who are actually Ferlands. Some of their records have also been listed as Furlong.
If you are looking in teh Restigouche area [Que. or NB] maybe I can help. I have some records of cemetery stones, that may be useful.

Hi Penny
I am Bernadette Furlotte daughter of Reginald.

All he information you have is overwhelming.
Hello Bernadette,
I do have you in our records. Your mother is Valerie Driscoll. I have you with 2 marriages & 3 children. But I'm afraid I have some blank spaces in your information. Would you be interested in helping me fill some of them?
Have you been working on your branch of the tree?
I believe I've seen your profile on Facebook.
Penny
I am hoping someone can help me out. I am trying to find the ancestors of Joseph Furlotte & Philomene Boudreau. I believe they settled in Alberta about 1910. They had at least 3 children but there may have been more. This is a large blank space in our research. Any help would be welcome
Penny

Thanks for this information. I will add it to our records. I have the book for St Gabriel's Cemetery as well as church records for Jacquet River, Nash Creek & Belledune. Also access to the records from Carleton & Bonaventure Quebec.

Hi Josh,
We don't live in New Brunswick, but maybe we can help you find some of your family that does. But I will need a little more information. Maybe your mother's name or your uncle Mark's wife's name. We may be able to narrow this down even by where your family lives. I will go through our records & see what I can find.

Hello,
My name is Lisa McNally
Daughter of Joyce Furlotte (birth certificate is Ferlatte)
who is daughter of Ralph Furlotte (Ferlatte) who is son of William Ferlatte who is son of Maxime Ferlatte. As I read through these entries I notice a Maxime Ferlatte who had a son Daniel. However, I don't think my great great grandfather Maxime has a son named Daniel. I'm wondering if there was another Maxime in the same area. (Jacquet River)
My mother's brother is Emile Furlotte if that is helpful.
Hello Lisa,
I have you in our records. Your father is Ed William Prout.
Your grandfather was actually baptised as William Raphael Follet. There was a notation in the register that added Frelatte. The priest made a mistake.
He was married as Ralph Furlotte to margaret Janet Furlotte [daughter of Jean Ferlatte & Marie Olive Guitard]
Ralph's parents were: William Charles Furlott & Jane Levesque
William Charles's parents were: William Maxime Ferlotte & Marie Guitard
William Maxime's parents were: Maxime [AKA Big Joe] Ferlat & Marie Guitard. This was the Maxime that had a son "Daniel"
This is what our records say. If you can add/fix any of this please let us know.
Penny
Thanks Penny! Thanks to you and this site I have been able to make the connection between my grandparents as they were both Furlottes. My grandfather Ralph Ferlatte came from the Isaac Ferlatte line and my grandmother Margaret Jane Furlotte came from the Joseph Ferlatte line. Isaac and Joseph were brothers. We always knew that my grandparents were very distant relatives, but we never knew how they were connected. My grandmother Margaret's father was John Paul Furlotte (brother to Walter Furlotte). Their father was Paul Furlotte (married to Elizabeth Roy)and so on...
Thank you very much.
Lisa
Hi again Penny!
How far back to France have you traced the Ferlatte line? Do you have a copy of the coat of arms or any information on the origin of the name? I would be very interested to have that info. I'm trying to help my son with a heritage fair project on his family history and that would be very neat to add to the project.
Thanks again,
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Glad we could be of some help.
The research we have is due to many very kind people who have willingly sent their branches to us.
We have the line back to France circa 1655, so far. Let me know what you need to finish your son's project.
As for the coat of arms. We do have one, but I don't know much about where it originated. Barry got it as a gift many years ago.
emailme at home & I will try to send you a picture.
penny.c@sympatico.ca
Penny
we have been asked many times about the Furlotte Coat of Arms.
I honestly don't know very much about it. What we have is a plaque from "House of Names" It was a gift from Barry's ex many years ago.
Around 1993 we got a letter asking if we would be interested in buying a man's ring with the Furlotte coat of arms on it. At the time it was just too expensive for us. I'm not sure but I think the letter came from a Dave Furlotte.
If anyone remembers anything about this could you please let me know. We would be interested in talking to these people.
Penny
Hi Pennie,
I purchased the History of the Ferlatte name online and there was also a crest of arms but it is not the coat of arms as the crest was placed in a generic "coat of arms" like background. The history of the name states that a "Marguerite" Ferlatte was the first to Canada but that could be what these researchers found and it may not be accurate. Is is possible that Jean Ferlatte (1st to Canada) had a sister or sister in law and brother that came to Canada with him? I will email you what I have but I'm not sure how accurate it is. I would like to see the coat of arms that you have so I can compare them. Dave Furlotte is my second cousin. He is the nephew of my grandmother and grandfather Margaret Jane Furlotte and Ralph Ferlatte.
Dave is a wealth of information as well. He traced my grandmother Margaret's family on the Guitard side back to an involvement in the end of the Reign of Terror in France. I was wondering if the Ferlattes had any military history in France as well.
Hi Penny,
Its Donna Furlotte. My father was John Earl, Howard's son.
I was wondering if anyone has any medical history on us.
I was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. I know my father's brother Ali had it. Just wondering if any others had/have it.
Thanks Penny
Hi Donna,
I'm sorry to hear this. What type of Leukemia were you diagnosed with?
I really don't know any medical history on the family. But I will put this question out everywhere we do research. Maybe with some help we can make one.
I will get back to you as soon as I get some answers.
Penny

Hey Penny. Looking for any information on Elizabeth Furlotte who married Francis Dupuis. One of their children was my great grandfather Jean-Baptiste Dupuis born in 1870 or 1871 I think in Quebec.
Tks Todd from PEI.
Hi Todd,
I'm sorry this has taken so long.
Elizabeth was born in Carleton, Quebec, 15 march 1832. I'm not sure about her death date but I think it was around 1886. She was the daughter of Benoni Frelatte &
Marie Rosalie Comeau.
Benoni was the son of Jean Jacques Baptiste Frelatte & Catherine Sayove.
I can take you back quite a few generations from there. Just let me know exactly what you're looking for.
The only thing I have on Jean Baptiste Dupuis is this:
He was baptised at "Havre-St-Pierre which is in the Saguenay, at a place calle Pointe-aux-Esquimaux.
He was listed as "Jean Baptiste Dupis. son of Francois Dupins, fisherman & Marie Ferlatte. Born 15 July 1861 & bpt 17 Aug 1868
Sponsors: Antoine Berthe & Marie Dupuis. Marie is listed as the childs aunt.
If you have any information you'd like to share; I'd love to add it to our tree
Penny
Pennie: Do you have any information on Alexander McKie husband of Rosalie-Esther LePage? If so, I would like to hear about it. I know daughter Henriette (Marguerite) MacKay was married to Andre Ferlat. Anything regarding Alexandre would be helpful. Thanks. Redge
Hi Pennie. I'm looking for information on my great great grandfather, Alfred S. Furlotte. I have his WWII draft card that listed his DOB 3 Jul 1883 in Canada and he died in Maine (resided in Medway) in 1957. He married Minnie Mishew abt 1906 and by 1910 he was in Medway, Maine as he is on the census. Alfred & Minnie had 5 children, one of which was my great granfather, John Delcemes Furlotte 1908-1971. My grandfather was Gary Dean Furlotte 1934-2000. All were from Medway, Maine.
I have had trouble finding any information on Alfred's parents as I was unsure on how to search Canadian records. Today I happened to come across the 1891 census of Canada online and I found an Alfred Furlotte who was 9 years old from Durham Restigouche New Brunswick. He was living in the household of Patrick Furlotte who was 22 years old and Alfred'S relationship was listed as "Adpot B", which I am assuming means adopted brother. Also living in the household were Patrick's parents Elizabeth and Francis. By chance, have you seen this census record? If not, I have a copy. It almost looks like the word adopt was crossed out, but that could just be the crossing of the t. Any help at all with this would be greatly appreciated. If you need any more information from me, feel free to email me at jessicabouchard888@hotmail.com.
Hey Todd,
I think we are on the same hunt for the Dupuis lineage. I also think that we are cousins, our parents being brother and sister. I sent you a personal message. I may have some information that you may be missing.
Natalie
Hi Pennie
I have just come across this Familytreecircles site. I am a Furlotte. My father

and died on 14 Sep 1986 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. He was the son of
Alexander Furlotte and Elizabeth Duplessis. He married Estella (Stella) Marie
Payne on 22 Feb 1941 in Campbellton, NB. She was born in Campbellton, NB on 13 Nov 1912 and died in Gatineau, Qc on 29 Sep 2000. She was the daughter of Cecilia Theriault (born 06 May 1880 in Grand Anse, NB - died 10 Mar 1973 in Campbellton, NB)
and Albert Joseph Payne (born 18 Sep 1867 in Campbellton, NB - died 16 Jan 1914 in

HI, I am Deborah Clarke Michielsen, illegtimate daughter to Gerald Furlotte, My mother is Edna Clarke. My first cousin is copied from above" Bernadette Furlotte daughter of Reginald.
My grandfather was Wesley Furlotte 1905-1989. Married to MIldred Gallen "
I wish to learn more about this family and their origin.
Debbie Michielsen
Hi Jessica,
we have spoken many times in the past. First I would like to say that my email address has changed. Please feel free to email me directly any time.
This is the information I have on your great great grandfather; Alfred Steven/Stephen Furlotte. He was born in Jacquet River and Baptised in Nash Creek, NB.
The church register says: " The 18 day of July 1882, I, the undersigned priest baptised Alfred, born the 6th of acknowledged parents Paul Furlotte & Mary Bernard. The sponsors were John Dempsey & Elizabeth Helene Furlotte"
The father was Paul Francis Firlotte son of Francis "Dupuis" Furlotte & Elizabeth Dempsey.
The mother was Marie Bernard daughter of William Bernard & Sophia Allain.
Paul Francis Firlotte married Elizabeth Roy in 1884.
The story we were told in Jacquet River was that Alfred was raised by his mother and her family. But like everyone else back then I assume he "worked out" on everyone's farm & could have been on his grandparents farm with Patrick. Anyway the story goes that he just left one day. We are not sure if he ran away or left looking for work. Either way he ended up working in lumber camps and ended up in the States. I know that he came back to Jacquet River many years later. [after his children were born]
Today it seems very unlikely that a 10/12 year old would go looking for work but apparently it was a normal thing back then.
I can help out with the rest of this line. Francis "Dupuis" Furlotte's parents were Joseph Ferlatte & Venerade Boudreau whichis our line too, so let me know what you want & I will send it on.
Penny

It may take a few days as I don't have a lot of information on the Furlottes in Alberta. But there are many of us working on this tree so I hope someone can steer us in the right direction.
You say you just recently met your birthparents. Are you able to ask your father who his parents are?
Can you tell me what religion you were baptised? I may be able to find church records that may give us some information. You can reach me direct at plcraig4@gmail.com

Hello Pennie,
On 2009-06-14 09:25:52 you answered to Virg about our grand-father Alexandre Ferlatte (Caplan). I am wondering if you'd have any information about one of his sisters, Alma Ferlatte? All I know is she got married with a Pete (or Pitt) Blair and lived in Phœnix, Arizona for a long time (don't know if she ever moved), and they had two children: first Evelyn and second David (Dave). I've tried looking with google but couldn't find much...
Thank you for any tips,
Danielle
Hello Danielle,
I'm sorry this has taken so long for me to answer you. Please just give me a few days to get things together & I will get back to you on this

Hi Penny,
My name is Doug Cochrane from Moncton, New Brunswick. My grandmother, Veronica Roy (Boucher), is from Campbellton and her mother Olive was a Furlotte. She is related to Paul Vincent Furlotte (in the message below). I am researching the family tree for my Grandmother at the moment and if you could put me in touch with Paul that would be great. His email address doesn't work for me. I'm looking for more information on my great-great grandfather Alexander P. Furlotte (born 09-12-1859) in terms of his siblings, parents etc. Also, I can't find any information on Joseph D. Furlotte (08-20-1896). My email is doug.cochrane@ssc-spc.gc.ca if you have a tree you could email me that would be wonderful. Thanks.
Paul's message:

I really do not know much about the family, I know they spelled the name Furlot, but my father changed when he went in to the Jewelry business in Boston after my brother researched the name.
I have son Christopher in CA , I think he has e-mailed you an another Kevin in FL,hope this helps .
Doug,
I'm sorry but Paul Vincent Furlotte passed away 2 years ago. I will try to contact his son for you.
As for sending you a tree, Unfortunately we lost everything in a fire in March. So while I'm gathering up my information I am not organized in a tree just yet. I will send you what I have but I will need a few days to fill in the blanks. I will also ask the many people who are doing "The tree" if they are able to help you out.
Penny Craig
I need some help.
I have been asked for help on The family line of Joseph Furlotte & Irene Pageau. As I have lost everything in a fire I was hoping that someone would be able to help us out. Any information would be a start.
Thank you
Penny
Looking for any help with building family tree. I am the great-granddaughter of James Alfred Firlotte and Mary Violet Levesque from Jacquet River, NB. I think I have correctly gotten 5 generations previous but am unsure and stuck there. Anyone have any info they can share?
Hi Lynne,
I think I can help you out a bit. Our families have an ancestor in common.
This is what we have
James Alfred Firlotte, 1900 - 1957 married 8 June 1921 in Jacquet River to Mary Violet Levesque [daughter of Joseph Martial Levesque & mary Ellen "Margaret" Duplessis.]
James Alfred's parents were;
John Louis Furlotte, 1852 - 1936 married 21 Nov 1880 in Nash Creek, NB to Mary
Firlotte. [daughter of Maxime Firlotte & Marie Guitard]
John Louis's parents {Our comon ancestor}are;
Pierre firlotte 1820 - 1906. married 18 Jan 1847. Registered in Gloucestrer NB. [daughter of Louis Allain & Dorothee LaViolette"
Pierre's parents were:
Joseph Ferlatte married Carleton, Quebec 23 Jan 1815 to Venerade Boudreau [daughter of Joseph Boudreau & Marguerit Leblanc"
Joseph's parents are:
Joseph Jean "Jacques" Baptiste Frelat. Married about 1779 to Catherine Savoie [daughter of Jean Andre Savoie & Marie Therese Arbour
Jean "Jacques" Baptiste's parents were:
Jacques Frelat [born in Saintonge, france} Married Notre Dame de Quebec 14 July 1755 to Marie Charlotte Amiot. [daughter of Charles joseph Amiot dit Villeneuve & Marie Angelique Metiver}
Jacques parents are; Jean Frelat & Marguerite Jeanne Jetron
France
Now I noticed that you have a few things different in your tree.
"Mary Allan Livit" married to Pierre Firlotte.
"Mary Turcotte married to John Louis Furlotte"
If you want to compare notes on these people or to compare the children of Alfred & Violet Levesque please let me know
Penny
Hello Penny
I am interested in your post on 5 July 2008 regarding "Joseph Samuel Ferlatte; son of Charles Samuel Ferlate & Elizabeth Guitard born in Jacquet River 1 Feb 1855 & Died in Red Bluff California 30 Jan 1921"........
Also Joseph Firlotte is not listed in this census (ie 1900). We have information that says he was living in Red Bluff with his "wife" Mary Ann Kelly
They had at least 2 children
Blanche Firlotte born 14 May 1891
Bessie C. Firlotte born around the same time"
I have recently been researching Mary Ann Kelly who was Joseph Firlotte's "wife" as she was my first cousin 3 times removed. Mary Ann was born in Australia in 1868 and immigrated to the US with her parents James and Catherine Kelly and her brother Richard in 1870 - they seem to have settled mainly in the Red Bluff Tehama California area. I am trying to find descendants of the Kelly family in the US who are interested in their family history so we can swap family info.
Here's hoping!
cheers

Hi Jenny, I just received a copy of the newspaper clipping of Catherine Kelly's death. It has 10 children listed as well some grandchildren. I have no access to records in United States now so someone forwarded it to me because of the Firlotte name in it. I'll try to track down where it came from. If your interested in it email me at plcraig4@gmail.com
