My name is Ann Gallagher and John William Ratcliffe and Mary Haworth are my great great grandparents. Their daughter Maud Alice Ratcliffe is my great grandmother.My grandmother was Eveline Porter form her first marriage to John (Jack) Porter who was killed in South Africa around 1898.I noticed the surname Warren among your surname list and my great aunt Bertha(nee Walsh) was married to Harry Warren. My dad was Edward Gallagher who was born in Westrigg near Armadale in 1929,his mother was Eveline Porter and his father James Gallagher from Armadale.Do you have any information about Mary Haworths parents and her family. I know that she was born in Preston in 1831 but I don't know if that was just the registration office area or if she was born just outside Preston. I also Know that John Porter was born in Preston but I don't know what year or who his parents were. My aunt in Scotland has said that both him and his brother were orphaned when they were young,I don't know when this was or where they went after their deaths, she also said that John Porter boarded somewhere it may have been in Blackburn, she said that this is where he met Maud Alice, so I don't know if she was a boarder as well or if she lived with her parents in Blackburn when she met him. I've hit a bit of a brick wall at the moment with my research, I would be most grateful if you are able to help me find out who Mary Haworths or John Porters parents were.
