Looking for George WORTON (or WARTON) of Birmingham, England.
I am searching for George WORTON/WARTON b. abt. 1841 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.
All the information I know is from his Marriage Registration and the 1871 Census.
In 1868 he married Harriet Larkham Manning and his age is 26 yrs. Occupation: brass founder Father's name: George Worton, silversmith.
On the 1871 Census he is married and living on Bishop Street, Birmingham with his wife, Harriet, son George William, 4 months and daughter Clara Jane. 2 years old. Occupation: brass founder.
I know that he died before 1879 as his wife is remarried and on her marriage reg. she is a widow. She also has a daughter in that same year with her second husband.
I have been unable to find his Birth and Death information and was wondering if anyone would have any better luck than I have had.
A little more Info.:
I have looked at Worton, Warton and Walton. Through research I have found that it appears Harriet farmed their 4 children out after his death.
Clara Jane Worton went to live with her grandparents.
George William and Thomas Henry were placed in Wolverhampton Union Workhouse and their last name was changed to WALTON.
Lancelot Frederick's last name was also changed to Walton at some point. He is my husband's grandfather and was apparently in Wolverhampton U. W. for one day then moved to John T. Middlemore Home for Children. From there he was transported to Canada in 1887 at the age of 13.
