My gran on mother side was Ann Catherine Bates born in August 1888 this is a big problem all I have of her is a photo with her parents herself and a younger sister and even a younger brother they came to South Africa I know that two of her brothers names were Edward and Henry she named one of her sons also Henry I also know that she could not stand the name Darwin and his theries we never were alloud to ask her way she hated that name so much all I can think is that maybe Henry Walter Bates was her grandfather and that his son that came to S.A. was her father two other sons of H.W. went to New Zealand or Australia I started with this family tree I have information begining in 1246 up to 2010 on the Bates families but nothing yet of gran all I can say HEEEEELP PLEASE
