Looking for grt grt grt grandad John Tuxworth born in Raithby, Lincoln, Lincolnshire.
My great grandad George TUXWORTH emigrated from Lincolnshire to Australia aboard the Salier which sailed from the German port of Bremen on 22nd January 1887.he married Alice Sophia BACKSHELL in Brisbane, Queensland on 24th Feb 1891.I obviously want to learn more about my family but would love to know why he left home as did many others.Poverty I suspect. Th very same reason driving emigrants today.

From The Argus, Melbourne: On 14 February 1922, at her residence, Nagambie, Sarah Tuxworth widow of the late George Tuxworth, and late of Armadale and East Malvern; mother of Edwin Tuxworth (of Wollongong NSW), Ellen Tuxworth of Nagambie, Lena Carson of Nagambie, George Bacon Tuxworth of Wollongong NSW, Lottie Machin of Queenstown, Tasmania. Aged 86, a colonist of 64 years' standing.
There is also a sad announcement in 1889 of the burial of their daughter, Fanny.
