Just came across this today, a couple years after the original post so I hope you see this. I am also a descendant of John McMenigall and Helen Leishman. My 2nd great grandfather was Craig McMenigall, older brother to your John Leishman McMenigall. I can give you a fairly extensive tree on what happened to that branch of the family if you wish. Craig married twice. His first wife, Margaret McIntosh Fraser, died fairly young and I am descended from their second of three children. They moved with their children to England before Margaret passed away. He remarried and had 5 more children. I am in Canada. My Mum’s family moved here in 1951 when ahe was a little girl but as far as I know, most of the other descendants of Craig ended up in Wales as he and his second wife settled there. But my great grandmother Jane was already working as a live-in servant at a home in Kent, England when her father and step-mother moved. My great grandmother married and stayed in Kent. Sadly we have lost contact over the years with our McMenigall family. If you want details of names, dates, etc on all of Craig’s children, I can provide that.

Greetings to Helen. I am also a descendent of John McMenigall and Helen Leishman, my great grandfather was the John MacMenigall noted above, born in Currie Scotland, on April 22, 1864, younger brother to your second great grandfather. His only daughter, Helen May, was my maternal grandmother, way younger than her two older brothers including William. Her favorite name for a boy was Craig, she spoke often of this. She did go back as a girl to Scotland to visit her paternal grandmother, and probably met Craig at that time. We have John MacMenigall's birth and marriage certificate, with the name spelled McMenigall, and he is buried in Wilbraham, Mass, and the gravestone says MacMenigall. His oldest son, William, emigrated to South Africa, and his many of his descendants moved onto New Zealand. My grandmother Helen corresponded with her nephew in South Africa for many years. Her brother Roy MacMenigall has descendants in America, my second cousins, who I do not know. I live in New Hampshire, not that far from Canada! I would be interested to see the details of your family tree.
