Looking for info on Josie Painter

Query by elizabeth813

I have recently begun digging up the past. On my mother's side I get as far as her paternal grandmother (my g grandmother), and I can't find anything else. Everyone knew her as Josie. Her maiden name being Painter. Even in my grandfather's obit she was listed as Josie. However, I cannot find anything on a Josie Painter accept a birth record in NC, shown with my g grandfather and grandfather. I believe her name was actually Sarah Josephine Painter. She had a son prior to my g grandfather- his name is James Walley. I cannot find anything on him either. She was born in NC about 1910, married Sherman Verner. My grandfather's name is also Sherman Verner. She ended up in Polk County TN. I do remember her, but vaguely. And no one that I have spoken to in my family knows anything else about her. My mother did but she passed away 3 years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to share information that I have (with permission of living relatives for their info).

Hello, I hope you are well. The website findagrave.com says that Sarah Josephine Painter was born on 16th March 1909, and her husband, Sherman M Verner on 29th April 1904. It records, as I'm sure you know, that they are buried at Cedars Springs Cemetery, Bradley Co, TN. Sarah died on 3rd June 1992, and Sherman on 4th February 1983. When I go to the Family History Centre here in London next I can look at the US Censuses and get more information (with a bit of luck). Andrew Wilson
