Hubert Topham CLEMENTS b.1830 in England his Father Henry Topham CLEMENTS and mother Caroline Sarah Smith.
He came to New Zealand end of the 1800. Facts are a bit shaky but I think his wife was Ada Ford and they were married in Australia in 1895.
They had a son born in New Zealand in 1898 Henry Gerald Topham CLEMENTS.
Hubert, Ada and their son Gerald went back to England in 1906. Gerald was left in England in the care of relatives and Hubert went back to New Zealand. I don't know what happened to Ada.
Hubert changed his name to Harry Carew and in 1914 married Catherine McShane. As far as I know they did not have any children together. He died in Auckland in 1944.
Would love to find out why he changed his name and what happened to his first wife and why Gerald was left in England.
