Hello, I am looking for information on a surname in my mothers family, My maternal great grandfathers name and surname is Benjamin Rostofsky (we were also told by someone that the alternate spelling of this name is Rostowei), we know barely anything about him. All we know is he could have been Polish or Russian, he was Jewish and he had 2 brothers David and Joseph Rostofsky, he passed away before my grandmother was born so she knows nothing about him either. I would like to know where exactly this name is from, and if there is anyone out there who has traced this name back through history and in particular how this name was of any influence or legacy in Dublin itself. I am writing this because my grandmothers family are from Dublin Ireland and my grandmother was born in 1938 so we're wondering how did a name like this end up in the family in a time when there was no known Polish community in Ireland?
