John Louis Henrys, did he by any chance marry the Ludlow girl in Queensland?
I know the Ludlow family through previous research.

The name John Louis Henrys has been niggling at me now I remember where I saw it.
I did some research for St.Joseph's College at Hurstville at the end of last year for a book they were writing about past pupils and I just found this article and John Louis was a pupil there.

I am still confirming this but so far I have:

John Louis Henry
Births
1887/5815 Henry, John Louis. Mother- Ellen, Father-Joseph Edward

other children: Christina Emily b. 1889/4591 , Josephine Mary b.1892/1734 , Nellie Clare b.1893/612
( Ref: https://bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/Search/Search.aspx?Path=%2fqueryEntry.m%3ftype%3dbirths )

1887/2564 Joseph Edward Henry married Ellen Stuart

J.E. Henry/s was a leading New Zealand horse racing handicapper And owner of a fruit and confectionery shop in Feilding where his name went from being Henry to Henrys
( Ref: http://www.pncc.govt.nz/content/136246/DOC%203%20Heritage%20part%202%20p18%20to%20117.pdf )

Still confirming:

J.E. Henry's father Joseph Henry married Christina Macky (McKay) 1864/5789 (my great great grand mother) they had a daughter Emily b. 1866/15198. We assume that Joseph jnr (J.E. Henry) was born else where as I can find no record yet of his birth. We think Joseph (senior) died 1870/1110 because Christina Henry remarries in 1870/5634 to my great great grandfather Emmanuel Dais and has more children including my great grand father William Dais and his sister Christina (the younger) were a newspaper article states is given away by her step brother J.E. Henry. Christina went on to marry Henry McClenaghan (other name to watch for in connection to the family)

I hope this is helpful.

LOTS of info for Joseph on this site Palmerston North City Council ...

* J. E. ("Joe") Henrys became New Zealand's best-known racing Handicapper over a 45-year period, eventually having handicapped races for some 80 racing clubs throughout the country. His first appointment as a handicapper was with the Feilding Jockey Club in 1888 ...

* He first appears in December 1887 opening the Empire Fruit Shop and Confectionary in Fergusson Street, Feilding, next to the Empire Hotel. At this time his surname was referred as 'Henry' - including in adverts he placed in the newspaper. The Feilding Star does not refer to him as "Henrys" until 1907, although the Wises Directory had begun listing him as "Henrys" by 1902

* The 1902 Wises Directory lists Joe Henrys as a handicapper of Grant Road, Wellington. However, by the 1905-6 Wellington North Electoral Roll, the family lived in Thordon Quay - where they remained until at least the mid 1920s. Much of what little biographical informaiton that is available on Joe comes from reports of the death of his son, Jon Louis, who was killed in a car crash at Eketahuna on 13 September 1918, aged 31. John was also a hanidcapper (as well as being an agent for the Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association) and at the time of his death, he was handicapping for the Masterton, Opunake, Stratford, Avondale, Marlborough and Rangitikei Racing Clubs. John and his mother Nellie (who died in 1924 aged 56) are buried together at Karori Cemetery, while another son, Stuart Joseph Henrys, died in 1928

Thank you all for your information. Apart from the info about the horseracing, all searches for Joe or his parents show nothing, that I can find anyway. There seems to be no trace of any births or marriages or deaths even. Was his father born in Ireland? I found some info about a Joesph Henrys born in Dublin(1835-94) who came to New Zealand and was a surgeon, he married Miss Armstrong (died 1891)settled in Wellington, could this be Joes parents?

My great grandfather Thomas Alfred Sterling Ludlow was Jessie Patricia's brother. For info on the Ludlow Family of Ipswich Queensland, just google the above name and you should be able to get some info. If not, let me know and I will see what I can do.
