THOMAS DAVIS CONOLLY.
The regrettable duty devolves upon
us once again to record the death of
another old and honored link with
the past, and one who had continually
watched the great strides Orange
had made, from the time when
it was a mere village, to its importance
of to-day. We refer to the demise of
Thomas Davis Conolly, which sad event
occurred at his late residence, Lord-street,
at an early hour on Saturday morning.
He had been ailing for some months with
dropsy and heart trouble, and, though at
times, he suffered great pain, he
never gave in, hut went about his
usual avocation almost up to the
time of his death. Deceased, who
was 77 years of age, was a well built
type of Englishman, being it native
of Ramsgate, Kent, England. He
came to Orange about 40 years ago,
and after marrying, resided the
whole time in the house in which he
died. He was for years in the employ of
Mr. James Dalton, during which time he
built the stone wall at Duntryleague, on
the Cargo road, and erected the walls which
at present surround the dams on that
property. He also worked at the
old mill in Summer-street, and was
for some time in the employ of the
Orange Council. He leaves a sorrow-
ing widow, and three sons to mourn
the loss of an affectionate husband
and father. The sons are Richard
(Paddington), Ernest, and George,
of Orange. The funeral took place
yesterday, the remains being interred in
the Church of England portion of the Orange cemetery.
The Rev. H. Walker Taylor conducted
the burial service, and Mr. F. Ford
had charge of the mortuary arrangements.

Yes you have the right one.
I am looking to go backwards but found it very confusing, I know his mother married when Thomas was 10-13yrs old to ? Deverson who had a number of children of his own. His mother and Deverson had 1 child. I think his grandmother's name was Allice, who he lived with for a period of time. I think his father's name may have been Thomas Davis.
I am also trying to find when Thomas came to Australia and where he landed.

gaisel on 2015-09-26 08:22:37Thank you Janilye, this helps with his death and burial. I can work with this, but can't find any record of his marriage, nothing on BDM. Info from another tree says he married in Bathurst area, possibly Cox's Creek? late 1870's to Sarah Ann Pike. I believe the Australian records spell his name Conolly.
There were a lot of Thomas Connolly's at that time, nearly all came from Ireland though.

You have given me a lot to work with as soon as I unstore my research and get back into it. (Have been working off memory at present.)
The marriage date is recorded on their 3rd son's baptismal certificate but there is no registration on Births, Deaths and Marriages and I don't know where else to look.
