I am looking for JAMES NOEL CLAIR OR CLAIRE BORN ABOUT 1865 IN CORNWALL ENGLAND. JAMES ON HIS DAUGHTER'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE IN 1894 STAES THAT HE WAS BORN IN CORNWALL AND IN 1894 HE WOULD HAVE BEEN AGE 29. HIS OCCUPATION WAS ACCORDING TO THE CERTIFICATE WAS ENGINEER.
JAMES'S DAUGHTER WAS NAMED HOLLY GEMMELL CIAR AND THE MOTHERS NAME WAS FLORENCE CATHERINE VARDY. FLORENCE WAS BORN IN NSW AUSTRALIA IN 1869. I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING TO NO AVAIL FOR JAMES FOR MANY YEARS. WOULD WELCOME ANY HELP.

asheppard on 2014-11-06 21:19:34On the copy of the Birth Cert for Holly, it would normally give a marriage date for James & Florence, do you have those details and also where Holly was born.
It is unusual that the birth was registered 3 years after birth, does it give an actual birth date of 1891?
berton on 2014-11-07 02:01:10Thank you both, On the birth certificate for Holly, the date of her parents marriage was Feb 1893 in Sydney. I have found no such record, howver when Florence (her mother) died suddenly in 1894 when she took Holly ( 3mths old baby) to Auckland New Zealand, no mention of her husband, the personal effects that Florence had on her according to NZ paper records, said that she had marriage certificate on her. This was the way they could trace her father Henry Vardy.Seems like James Clair had already deserted his wife and baby daughter.
