Looking for John Mehaffey (Mahaffey?) and Margaret Clugston of Durmallagh, Aghaderg, Down, Ireland

Query by jqvalle

John Mehaffey was possibly born in Ireland in 1785 and possibly died in N. Carolina in 8/1873. His wife may have been Margaret Clugston (? died in 1867 in Ireland). They had three daughters, Margaretta (born 1/26/1840), Sarah Anne (born 10/15/1844) and Jane (born 7/6/1851). James Mahaffey was born in N. Carolina 11/4/1805 and died 10/5/1840 in Clay County, KY. I am not sure who his mother was. His wife was Ela Crawford born 4/5/1807 possibly in S. Carolina and died 1/28/1884 in Rockcastle, KY. Their daughter Matilda was born in KY 9/12/1830 and died 6/7/1919. She was married to Phillip Rector in Owsley County, KY in 1849 and had several children. She was widowed and married John Oakes Durham in Rockcastle County, KY on 3/17/1863 (children Nancy Jane, Ella Belle, Luella, and Joseph Newman. She married twice more, John Norris then William D. Gooch.

Ela Crawford was the daughter of John Crawford (born 1785 in Fauquier, VA, died 1848 in Laurel County, KY) and Matilda Benson (born 8/13/1789 in Fauquier, VA, died 7/28/1858 in Laurel County, KY). They married in 1806 in Greenville, SC. John Crawford's parents were George Crawford and Rachel Stringfellow (no other information). Matilda Benson's parents were Robert Benson and Nancy Ann Stringfellow (no other information).
