Looking for JOLIN of Nelson, British Columbia, Canada
This family appears with 2 children in the 1911 Census in Nelson, BC. The marriage of the parents occurred in Cranbrook, BC John B Jolin and Katherine May Wallace 30 October 1907. John died and is buried in Lethbridge but the information he provided when he married Katie does not match up with existing records ie he said he was born in Glenfarm, Ontario and his parents were Finlay Jolin and Katie. My interest in the family is because John and Katie's daughter Sarah Jane married my grandmother's brother Francis Ormand Jones aka Frank. I have been able to make some progress on the Wallace line but without proof I can go nowhere up the Jolin tree. I suspect he was actually born in Quebec and anglicized his name from Jean Baptiste to John and severed his French Canadian ties. It does not help that not every birth was registered in the 19th Century. There is no record of a Finlay and Katie Jolin in either Ontario or Quebec. The second child listed on the 1911 census was Maggie Jolin who was born in February of that year. If anyone has some pieces to this family history puzzle I would really appreciate the information.
