Joshua Henry WOODWARD came to Ontario Canada some time in the mid 1800s. Canadian census records give his place and date of birth as 1825 USA. There is evidence that he came from New Hampshire. He appears on Canadian Census records for 1871, 1881 and 1891. He died in 1895 in Ontario.

He was about 56 Years old when he married Mary Elizabeth Stoner, age 19, who was born in Ontario as was her father before her. The family originally came from Pennsylvania, Chester County and were Mennonites.

Joshua and Mary had 2 sons - James Henry Prescott WOODWARD and Joshua Stanley WOODWARD (my grandfather)

Joshua Henry farmed in Ontario and was also a lumberman with a mill. The family resided in East Gwillimbury Township in York North County.
