Looking for Leab and/or Leib families from PA or Indiana
I have been on a notorious search for Leab or Leib families from PA and/or Indiana. The farthest back I have gotten is Paul Leib b.1802 and his wife Magdeline b.1806 both from Germany. The only son that I know of that they had was Peter Leib b.1848 in Pennsylvania. Somewhere along the line our last name changed to Leab. My father has informed me that years ago there was a disagreement of some sort between family members and some of them moved to Illinois and changed the spelling back to the original version of LEIB. I have not found these members of our family yet. I am also looking for desendants or relatives of a John W. Turner who spent some time in Pennsylvania before or around the time of World War 2. This man had a short relationship with my Grandmother, Martha Leab, and then apparently went off to war, never to be seen again. John W. Turner fathered a child with my Grandmother, a son, Gary L. Leab, my father. My father has never seen or even heard from him in the last 63 years. My Grandmother wrote to him once but never heard anything back. I believe she said that his last known location was Manhattan, New York. Any help with this would also be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Hi. I just found your post and see it is almost 4 years old. Have you found any more information since this post? Paul & Magdalene are my 3rd great grands. I have 4 children listed for them - Mary, Elizabeth, Henry and Peter (found in the family bible). Somewhere along the line I added a son Adam. I'm going back now and have no idea where I picked up Adam unless from another tree by accident. I'm about ready to delete him, but thought I'd give it a little more searching first. I don't know anything about the changing of the names. My direct line is thru Henry. Henry stayed in south central Pennsylvania, keeping the name as Leib.
