I am looking for information on the Lockamy family in Sampson and Cumberland County in NC from the 1700s on. My specific line is Joseph Lockamy born 1807-1810. The name is found with several variations of the spelling: Lockamy, Lockemy, Lockerby, Lockaby, Lockerman, Lockman, etc. From what I can find, Joseph was married three times. His first wife was Belle (P0lly) Colsman/Wilson. On the 1850 census his wife is listed as Mary and she is noted as being insane. In 1855, he married Tempy Cole. They had two children together, Diania b.1858 and Archibald b. 1860. He had five children with his first wife: Daniel, Wilson/William, Sarah, Patience, and Mary Ann. I would like to be able to find out who his parents were and even further back. Thanks for any help.
