Looking for Mabel Georgina Ross and James Waugh from Cape Town and Kimberley South Africa
Mabel grew up in Cape Town and had a brother Norman (who we understand was a yacht designer and an officeholder in the Cape Yacht Club) and a sister Ada. Mabel worked as a teacher and was a watercolour landscape painter. Her husband was James Waugh whose family came from the area around the Scottish English border. He had come out to South Africa and joined the Bechuanaland Police, fought in the Boer War and later in WWI in France. They married c 1921 and in 1923 had a son, Charles James Alexander Weston Waugh. Mabel and James had a farm in the Transvaal until James' death in 1928 when it had to be sold. Mabel lived both in Kimberley and in Cape Town. She died in Cape Town in 1942.
Mabel and James were my husband's grandparents and we are trying to learn as much about them as possible but it is very difficult from Australia. If anyone has any information or stories they can share we would be very grateful.
