Looking for MARTZ (MARSH) in Germany

Query by leakari

I have my MARTZ line back to Frederick, MD, USA in the 1700's. They came from Ratisbon, Germany. Sabastion MARTZ was one of the sons, father Balsar(?), mother Anna(?). Sabastion moved from MD to VA and owned the Toll House, renamed Bride's House in the 10th Legion. Supposedly, Thomas Jefferson gave him the 10th Legion for his service during the Revolutionary War. I have much info on the MARTZ's of VA but cannot seem to get very far into Germany. I have the book "The MARZ's of Maryland" and keep going over and over it. Sabastion married Mary Magdalene BYRD.

I am not a hard core researcher because of the time limits. I have much to learn and would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions.

I can go back UNTIL the ship arrived in New York when my 3rd Great Grand Pa died onboard. Dead end so to speak.
