Looking for missing Actons's
Hi, It is the first time I have been to this site and I am still unclear how to use it. I have quite an extensive Gedcom file which include many surnames. Some of those included are Acton, Bone, Kiely, Folsom, Baxter, Wilder, Miller, Grossman just to name a few. I have documented names and dates to the best of my ability but am just now going back to list sources. If I have a name in my file that someone needs a source on just ask and if I have the source information I will galdly share it. My file is unique in the fact that I was adopted by my cousin. Therefore I have a double history on my (biological) father's side of the family.

Hello Marie-Claire,
Could you share some names or dates on your father's side? My Acton line is split throughout the United States and England & even possibly Canada. Circumstances in my family forbade me knowledge of my maternal grandfather's line. I have a little information but the information is skethcy. My grandfather Karel Acton was born in the Oak Glen, IL, U.S.A. June 19, 1895. His family moved to England when he was a very small child, where he lived until he married at which time he and hs new bride moved to the USA again. (The ship records show them going to live in Buffalo, New York with his wife's family). His father William Henry Acton was born in St Oswaldi, Cheschire but died in Colchester. He was a priest of the New Church of Colchester. Karel's mother was Susan G Aitken who was also US born but had relocated to England after marrying. The family I found living in Dartford, Kent in the 1901 census. The family seemed to have traveled a bit to and from the US for resons to do with the church it seemed... but it may have also been somehow affiliated with a hospital over there as my grandmother's side also travled to and fro and I have found them listed on ship records in repect to what seemed to be nurses and other famiy members stated that the family lived affluently on hospital property. Karel married Phoebe Baxter (my grandmther). Phoebe (born October 15,1890) was the daughter of Francis George Baxter and Fannie Mae (Hine) Baxter. Karel's full name is under dispute -- It was either Stephen Karel Acton or Karel Stephen Acton. He went commonly by Karel however he signed most legal documents Stephen. His siblings were Osmond, Marith, Elrad, Eldon & Elnar. I also know that Osmond died young in 1915 in service with the Royal Engineers. I also know that Elnar went by the name Rinnah and both she and her sister Marith lived well into old age but I am not sure that either of them ever married.(Eldon and Elnar may be the same person.. 1901 census have listed Eldon but family never mentioned a sibling named Eldon.. they always talked about Aunt Rinnah... was not til I located an immigration record for her that I learned her full name was Elnar Rinnah Acton). They were also both somehow affiliated with the church in their later years. Also church records indicate some kind of rift in religious beliefs between these siblings as their father (William Henry Acton) had converted religions after meeting up with a man to form the New Church and that was how he initially came to the United States back when he was a young man. William Henry Acton's parents were Edward Acton and Charlotta Parry and his siblings were Sarah, Thomas, Charles, Charlotta, Alfred, Elizabeth, Arthur, & Harold. Alfred would become a bishop of the New Church. Alfred's grandson - Alfred Acton currently resides in Bryn Athen, PA and is still active in the church. Thanks to him I have received a great deal of information on this Acton line. Edward Acton was born in 1819 in Hay, Breknochshire, Wales and died in Formby, England. Charlotta was born in Chester, Cheshire and is buried in Anfield Cemetery in London. I am not at all familiar with Englands geography so lack the knowledge as to where to look in England for the family. Perhaps some of this may make some sense to you. Oh before I forget to mention it.... The reason I say that some of the family may even be in Canada is because when Grandma immigrated to the US they were apparently near Niagra Falls which is on the United States and Canadian border. She had to file a statmenet with Canadian officials regardng her family, who they were where she was from, and when she came to the USA. (She and Karel married in October 1920 and wher in the US by the end of that same month.. they would not actually move to the US until 5 years later per her document.) I have a copy of that document here. Thank you for the comment on my grandsons- Kyler and Blaze -- I am quite proud of them.
Sincerely,
Linda
Oh they do know they are cute don't they.
God Bless
