John Sexton and Jane Hogan are my maternal great grandparents.
John was born about 1847 & Jane in 1853. This has been calculated from their age as listed on the Passenger List on their journey to Australia on the ship the "Pathan" in 1884. As well as their ages as recorded on their death certificates.
I can find no record of them in Ireland.
My grandmother, Eliza (Elizabeth) is their 3rd child of 4, all born in Hobart Tasmania.
Francis , James and Mary are their other children.
She told me that they were from Milltown Malbay in County Clare and that they eloped.
I can find them on the ship from Portsmouth, the Pathan, in 1884. Jane is listed as Jane Sexton on the ship's log.They arrived in Hobart in March 1884, and their first child, Francis, (male) was born in June 1884.
The only other clues are on their children's' baptism certificates ( in Hobart) - a James Hogan as godfather, and Patrick Sexton as godfather.
My cousin and I went to Ireland (County Clare) last year (2014), but could not find any links.
