This is the only Lewis Dexter I found born 1810. Let me know if this is the correct one.

Hello Dora,
I was thrilled to hear from you. The date
seems right for Lewis except he was born in New York State. For some reason he migrated to Pa. and
married a widow with two or three children. He was
at that time (1950 pa. census) 51 years old. That
seems old in that era to be married for the first
time. I wonder if he may have been married before.
I actually have found a couple of Lewis's but the
dates and wives don't fit. We have pictures of
Lewis and Chloe and records of his marriage to her.

Could he have been married before? I found one curious record for a Lewis Dexter, born 1806 in NY. This is from a seperate family tree. It almost looks as if almost his entire family died in 1846?

Interesting!! I can understand Lewis getting married as late as he did. If this is the Lewis that I am looking for, he apparently left the area after the deaths of his family. Pennsylvania is where I found him and the Family has been in the same area through the years including myself as a child which is in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He married a widow there in the year 1849. I know he is buried in the Wellsboro cemetery, Tioga County, Pa. but when I ask the caretaker for Lewis's Parents names which are usually listed in burial records, he said there was none listed. There was just his name and where the grave was located. I just can not seem to make a connection.
You know Dora, I begin to feel sorrow for the man that lost his family.The poor man was apparently devastated and took off for parts unknown. The next thing I have to do is try to find the Birth date of Lewis, not the year but the month and day.

Just an addition---the alternates are my Grandparents and Uncle Harry and George lived a long life. Uncle Norris was less than a year old when he died. Winfred which is not his name it's
Fred Cecil, my Father. Uncle William died early about 35 years old. My Father and Uncles William
and Harry were in WW1. My Father was wounded but
made it home safe. Safe enough so that he and my Mother had 13 children. There are ten of us left.
