Maples Long 18 Oct 1806 Sevier Co TN - 25 Nov 1866 married Mahala J. Atchley 4 Mar 1827. Maples was the son of Rev. George and Elizabeth Maples Long. Mahala was the daughter of Benjamin Atchley and Martha Chambers. Rev. George Long 1771-1849 was the son of Edward Long and Jane Jones.

We have so many ancestors with the very same names, but I don't think
we come from the same line of Long's? We do have a James Riley Long, his
father was John Long 11 and Elizabeth 'Allen' Long. John Long 11 was the son
of Rev. Geo. W. Long 1 and Nancy Elizabeth 'Maples' Long, (my ggg grand-
parents). We also had a George Washington Long, son of John S. Long and
Leah 'Smelcer' Long.
Several other of your names match ours also. I remember now how we
had compared our Long's. Maybe somewhere????? : ) There are so many
Long's, I think many do get them all mixed up with each of the other set's
of Longs? John Long 11 and wife Elizabeth 'Smelcer' Long lived in Tn., for
sometime, later moved to Georgia. He had a large family because he had
married 3 times. The first one Elizabeth Allen died, then about a year later
he married her younger sister, Jane Allen. Jane died sometime later and
he married the 3rd and last time. His family settled in the Chattanooga Valley,
near Cenchat, Ga., in Walker county. Does any of these names look famliar
to you?
