When Martha Woollard was born in 1729 in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, her mother, Mary, was 22. She married William Stocken/Stocking on March 15, 1752, in Suffolk. She had four children by the time she was 26. She died as a young mother in 1757 in Pakenham, Suffolk, at the age of 28.
