Looking for parents/siblings of WILLIAM MATCHETT
Seeking help in finding the parents/siblings of WILLIAM MATCHETT who was born in 1800 in Cavan Co. Ireland. He came to the North ESK of the Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada area as a stow away at the young age of 15. William died on November 6, 1875.
William sired a large family and about 95% of the Matchett's from the Miramichi area are directly descendant from him. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and happy hunting, Frank. aka TreeMaker

Hi Frank,
30 odd years back while working and staying in the B.O.P. town known as Opitiki, there lived a pack of wild people known as the Matchett's.James Matchett was a meat hunter, possum hunter, fisherman, poacher and jack of all trades. He often held wild drinking parties at his home on Goring Street,Opotiki, and invite all the bushmen of the town to a huge meal off White Bait fritters and ails. He had a number of Maori sons and one girl, all as hard as nails.
Jim as he was known, was a generous old koot that would give any body who needed it the shit of his back, holes, sweet and all.
He past over in the last 10 years, and is buried out at lower Waiawa,East off Opotiki.
My nana Gertrude Elizabeth Matchett came from Ireland when she was 7, unsure which part of Ireland she came from as we have lost contact but wondering if she is perhaps a distant relation.
They came to newzealand about 85 years ago
