looking for patrick in ireland

i started researching my family tree with the tree my brother had stated years before but i concentrated on the part of the family in Ireland. the family name is Higgins but so far i have hit a brick wall with my three times gt grandad Patrick Higgins and his wife .i think his wife could have been Mary Garvey but where they were born is a mystery. if any one out there can help i would be grateful

mph3559 on 2011-12-01 23:55:53I do not. Hit a wall on the Irish side. My gg father, Patrick Joseph Higgins (b. 1846-1851), listed Patrick Higgins and Mary Garvey as parents on his sister's (Bridget Delia Higgins') death certificate, and indicated Mary was from Roscommon. P.J. Higgins immigrated in 1871 (this is the only date I have from a census and I have not been able to verify it) was a physician in Wilkes-Barre PA (attended medical school in New York, Bellevue). He was the attending physician at Bridget/Delia's death. Her obit also listed a brother, J.C. Higgins, living in Chicago at the time of her death. I did write to St. Cronin's where parish records for a Patrick and Mary Higgins family were found (a Bridget and John do appear there as children of a Patrick and Mary), but according to them, no Patrick Joseph was found. Press clippings here also indicate my gg father P.J. Higgins was born in Galway, so conflicting information is out there.
