Looking for PATTEN..... Arthur Edwin

All I have on my Arthur is that he was a Policeman in Western Australia in the 1860's. I do not know where he is from or when/how he came to Australia. His name appears on my grandfathers birth cert. My grandfather was also called Arthur Edwin but no surname was given on the cert. His mother is Mary Jane Cable, she was housekeeper to A E Patten, she later married a Thomas Ishmael Jones. Thomas raised Arthur as his own and he was raised as a Jones.
If anyone can help me with a connection to my Arthur E Patten, I would be eternally grateful!
