Dear Jean, Hi there. Have you had any luck with your HISLOP research lately? I've seen lots of your posts at rootschat.com.

Kind regards,

Hi Alison ,
It has been a while since I checked with Family Tree Circles.
I have made lots of progress but still hoping for a major breakthrough , if one is to be had,
Regards, Jean

Hi there

I am looking at some of my grandmothers info (she was a Hislop). Richard Hislop married Margaret Beattie on 24 Sept 1837. They had five children Richard, Margaret, Archibald, Isabella and Thomas and I have their birth dates if you want them. His father was Richard Hislope who married Mary Paterson on 5 Jan 1799. Thats pretty much as far back as I have and I have no idea how accurate it is. What info do you have?

Hi ,
This is a pleasant surprise! I have been researching my Hislop family for a few years now and had become convinced that there was nobody else who was researching my family, but fortunately I was wrong.
Richard and Margaret Beattie had Margaret x2 , Isabella x2 , Richard x2 , Archibald , Thomas ( my Grandfather who was twice married to Mary and then Elizabeth Glass ) and James. Infant mortality was so high , one wonders how people kept on trying to establish families - guess they didn`t have the choice people have today.
The earlier generation marriage I have is Richard Hislop + Isabella Hardie on 10 June 1799 and this is substantiated on the death record of their son Richard who died in February 1883. There is so much more to tell there.
Where do you fit in to the family? SO MANY QUESTIONS and much to share - we must exchange emails ! My Dad , James 1894 was the first son of the second marriage of Thomas 1853 , son of Richard and Margaret Beattie - I was born Jean Hislop in 1944 in Brisbane , Queensland.
I look forward eagerly to hearing from you,
Jean
