Looking for information on Robert Browning b. 1749 in Pentridge Dorset
I am of the Browning family. I am aware that I am related to Robert Browning the poet but I think more as an uncle than a grandfather. His grandfather as stated above was born in 1749, Pentridge, Dorset. I understand that he got married for the first time at the age of 29 (1778) to a Margaret Tittle, whose family had holdings in St. Kitts West Indies. They settled in Battersea and four years (1782) later their son, Robert Browning was born. The family then moved to Camberwell in 1784. Five years later (1789) Margaret Tittle died. Robert Browning snr took a 2nd wife at the age of 45 (1794) by the name of Jane Smith, aged 23. From what I understand they had 9 children. It is this side of the family that I need to know names etc. of the children. As I think this might help me to find out the correct information with regards to my family tree.
The information I have received is through my great grandmother and grandmother, as we know sometimes things can get slightly muddled down the line as the years go by, but my great grandmother was married to a Robert Browning and they had 2 children. The eldest being a daughter Doreen b. 1910 and a son Thomas born 1912.
I would appreciate any assistance with regards to this query.
Many thanks and kind regards
