LOOKING FOR SURNAME URSIN OF NEW ORLEANS, LA
IAM RESEARCHING THE SURNAME URSIN IN NEW ORLEANS, LA. I HAVE FOUND A FEW DOCUMENTS ON ANCESTRY.COM, BUT NOT TOO MUCH THAT I CAN BE 100% CERTAIN THAT THESE DOCS BELONG TO MY RELATIVES BECAUSE DOB & NAMES VERY (NICKNAMES SEEM TO HAVE BEEN USED ON SOME, NOT TO MENTION MISSPELLED NAMES. MY TRIPLE "G" GRANDMOTHER, ( JEANNE PIERRETTE URSIN), SUPPOSEDLY IMMIGRATED SOMETIME IN THE 1850'S WITH HER SON, (JULES EDMOND URSIN), WHO WAS AN INFANT OR 1 YR OLD @ THE TIME OF IMMIGRATION. THE STORY GOES THAT SHE WAS A WIDOW, SO NOT ONLY AM I UNABLE TO FIND ANY IMMIGRATION RECORDS & VERY FEW CENSUS RECORDS, I ALSO DO NOT KNOW WHAT MY TRIPLE "G" GRANDFATHERS NAME WAS. MY GREAT AUNT TOLD ME THAT SHE THOUGHT HIS NAME WAS CHARLES EDMOND URSIN, BUT SHE WASN'T POSITIVE OF IT. JULES MARRIED CATHERINE MURRAY OF LOUISIANA IN DEC 1881 & THEY HAD 7 CHILDREN. EMILY , JULES, GEORGE, EMILE, HENRY (DIED IN INFANCY), LOUIS & JEANNETTE. I FOUND A DOCUMENT THAT SHOWS A JULES URSIN AS A FOREMAN FOR A COAL COMPANY IN NEW ORLEANS NAMED SARAZIN BROTHERS OFF KERLIC ST DATED 1892 & 3. I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY INFO ON THEM IF SOMEONE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THEM.
