My g3-grandfather, John Ballantyne, and his wife, Janet Matilda Turnbull Ballantyne (1786-1870), came from Roxburghshire, Scotland, to Illinois/Texas in 1841, as part of the Mormon migration. We believe that John's parents were Thomas and Janet Inglis Ballantyne, but we have no real information about them, and know nothing of their progenitors.

You are correct that John Ballantyne's parents were Thomas and Janet Inglis Ballantyne. I have done quite a bit of research on the Ballantynes so if I can help you any, let me know. Betty, Douglas, WY
