Looking for Thomas Dutton who died in 1858
Below is Mary Ann Dillon's second marriage, she was previously married to Thomas Dutton, who according to the 2 transcribed marriage certificates below he appears to have died in 1858.
I have not been able to find his death, according to the Victorian BDM site he did not die in Victoria, Australia
Would love to make contact with anyone who has any information on Thomas Dutton or his wife or only surviving child Catherine Dutton.

Thankyou Smith41 & Asheppard for your responses,
They have helped me to look at the data with new eyes. I just hope I’m not barking up the wrong tree. I am pretty sure that both marriages involve the same Mary Ann Dillon, as her father is consistent on both marriage documents - John Dillon, sugar Baker. I have updated the above article to include a transcription of the first marriage certificate as formatting is not allowed in the comments which makes the transcription difficult to read.
According to their Australian born daughter’s birth certificate, Kate (known in later life as Catherine) her father Thomas Dutton was a soldier. However this is probably unlikely particularly, as the informant was a friend who gave the information and seemed unsure about the father and stated that his age “about 35 years London”
Perhaps the couple came out to Australia after losing some of their children, in the hope of better times.
On Mary Ann’s second marriage certificate it states that she lost 3 children I am wondering if one of those children was that Catherine Elizabeth Dutton you found in the English Parish registers In Clerkenwell St James?
If Thomas was working as a Drover in Australia he may have been away a lot working, that’s if he wasn’t chasing gold or similar and may have died away. On Catherine’s state ward papers it says that in 1868 “Father’s whereabouts unknown” (VPRS 4527/P0002/Book 2/page 683) so something must have happened to allow Mary Ann to go ahead and marry John Edwards that same year.
Progress is slow but I think I may have moved ever so slightly forward!
