Looking for VARNON of Alabama

Query by lindadeloach

William Elige Varnon born in Clay County Alabama about 1870.
Believe that "Elige" is short for :Elijah".
Found a James Varnon in the 1860 census in Alabama with a brother McBowden Varnon and mother Dorothy Varnon. Found a marriage record for Dorothy McConathy to William B. Varnon in Talladega County Alabama but nothing on James Varnon.
In 1870 census there is a Roback Varnon with wife Sarah in the house with Elijah Mitchell.
In 1880, James R. Varnon, wife Sarah, son Elijah 10, and son James M. 1. By 1900 James M. Varnon is a boarder, Elige is married, and there is no sign of James R and Sarah.
What happened to them?

I suggest trying familysearch.org
Not only will you find census records, but births, marriages and deaths. I keyed in William Elige Varnon, and just by doing that found a death record for "Elige Varnon", 19 Apr.1951, Talladega, father, W. Varnon

I did not look further for any other information, as I thought it might be exciting for you to find it.

If this is your relative, than you can contact the library to see if they will help you with an obit. and this will give you more information to go by.

Best wishes in your research.
