If you want to trace the Yorkshire you want the West Riding and search Vardy and Varty. The name became a surname from a nickname. The same person or family tended to play the character. Verity -posh southern spelling- was a character in medieval Miracle Plays for which York is famous.

According to the census John & Mary were both born in St Pancras, Middlesex

I might be wrong but I think the father of John Abednego Veritys b 1854 was born in 1815.
I could not find the John b1815 on the 1841/61 census to cross check.

I am still looking for the baptism of John Abednego Verity 1854 to find his parents names.
John Verity occupation Tailor is shown on John Abednego Verity's marriage cert but no mothers name. In 1851/71 the census suggests is mother is Mary ???

You say John Abednego's father John was born in 1836 but I could not find a John b 1836 (taylor on any of the census.

Perhaps someone else will have more luck.

I am confused you seem to be talking of two families.

If you plan to work back from John Abednego Verity you need to get his birth cert to find both parents names. I think it was John Verity c 1815. That is what fits in with the census.
