Welcome lafurner.

I'm having trouble finding the death for your 'William John CAMPBELL' in the Australian death records for 1940. Where did he die?

There is no birth recorded for a William John or John CAMPBELL in the Bairnsdale area to parents John and Mary circa 1895.

The best I can come up with is a John CAMPBELL born 1895 in Footscray to John CAMBPELL and Mary BARR. Footscray is a long way from Bairnsdale.

I also noticed your William John CAMPBELL was recorded as John CAMPBELL when he married Charlotte CROTTY in 1921.

thanks for your response!

I couldn't find a birth record for him either. He died on 17th April 1940 in the Parkes district reg number 7083. He also had a coroners inquest which says he was born in Bairnsdale and he died at Cookamidgera, this also has him as John Campbell.

On my grandmothers marriage certificate in 1952, it has him as William John Campbell (deceased), and her mother as Charlotte Crotty. It also says he was a chef. Grandmother and her husbands names were Myrtle Campbell and Desmond James Fisher.
