Looking for WINKLE of Kentucky

Query by carol_e

I am the 2 great granddaughter of LEVI C. WINKLE and PATSEY MARTHA ESTES of Kentucky, and the great granddaughter of JOSEPH "JOE" STORY WINKLE (born 1869 in Estill County, Kentucky) and ANGELINE WARNER (1850-1929 of High Bridge, Kentucky). My grandfather was one of their sons, IRA STORY WINKLE 1885-1954. My grandfather left Kentucky as a young man and never lived there afterwards. I am looking for any information on this line of Winkles. I have that Levi C. Winkle's father was JAMES WINKLE, born 1800-03 in North Carolina. I do not know if this information is accurate. I also have discrepancies in the names and number of Joe and Angeline's children. I have researched Ira Winkle's descendants and will share this information. I also have a very good quality 8x10 B&W photo of my grandfather and some of his siblings and their spouses taken at a funeral. l think that this may have been the funeral of their brother, Levi. I would like help with dating the photo and identifying the peopIe in it. I have a photo of Laura Winkle, a couple of Lennie Winkle, and photos of my grandfather. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I,am sure I can identify some of the people in that photo to be Willard Allen winkle, Elizabeth Caldwell, Tom Caldwell and Laura winkle. I think I have some of the same pictures. Bobbie.milby@yahoo.com

I think you will find the Winkle family you are asking about, related to the Warner family, in this weblink.
I'll caution you that the family lineage beyond William Warner of Rowan County is almost certainly false. William Warner of Accomack listed in this lineage died in 1803 and is buried in Accomack County, disproving this lineage as stated in this web document.
