Dear bowza, Welcome. I have lots of German/Prussian ancestors whose descendants emigrated to Australia. I have found that they often Anglicized their surnames. This sometimes has made my research back to Germany hit the proverbial 'brick wall'.
You should try and obtain your g.grandfather's Death Certificate. I did a quick search at the NSW bdms online. Q.Did he die in 1955 at Bondi NSW? If so, parents names were: William Carl SULBERG and wife Julia. Death Registration No.1089. Available to purchase now at NSW Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages
The National Archives of Australia
If you can't access the site, try later on. National Archives site has been very busy what with ANZAC Day commemorations and also the recent uploading of more digitised records for the public to access.
There appears to be a Naturalisation record in 1914, followed by a purchase of property at Bondi NSW.
Check the archives online for other mentions of possible SULBERG relatives. There's also a record for a Prisoner of War/Internee with surname SULBERG.
