LOOMIS - A Large Family

Hi... I am Victor Scott Hockok, great-grandson of Minnie Emaline Loomis of Michigan who married Elmer James Donaldson.
Minnie is the daughter of Alonzo Samuel Loomis and Clarissa (Clarcy) Wines.
I understand the Loomis line goes back to Ireland, but this is all I know.
If anyone can assist in any way, I would appreciate it very much. If this info can assist you, you may inquire of me for specifics.

Natasha on 2005-07-26 18:52:06I dont know if this has any connection to your research but I have a Loomis in my family history. This is what I have:
ALLEN BEEBE b. 1754 in New London, New London, CT d. 23 September 1838 in Rutland, Rutland VT. He is buried in the Baird Cemetery, Chittenden, Rutland, VT. He married (1) Damaris Loomis on 11 January 1786 in Chittenden, Rutland, Vt. (2) POLLY BAILEY abt 1783. Allen moved from CT to Ludlow MA with his parents and served in the Rev. War enlisting in a MA Regt in 1776 and served 5 months. He then moved with his parents to Rutland VT where he is found in the 1791 and 1800 census. He later moved to Chittenden VT. His six children were all baptized at the East Parish Congregation Church on December 29 1803. Damaris' given named spelled "Dimmis" and in the Loomis genealogy. The Loomis genealogy also says they married in Chittenden, VT and Damaris was b. abt 1772.

V. DAVID LOOMIS BEEBE b. 14 March 1794, in Rutland Vt.
VI. RUFUS BAILEY BEEBE b. 5 April 1796 in Rutland Vt. D. 27 December 1862 in Chittenden, VT. Rufus is listed as one of Damari?s children, however with the middle name of Bailey I believe that he is actually Polly Bailey's child. This however is a personal belief with no documentation to back it up. He is also buried in Baird Cemetery. He was called R.R. Beebe in the VT vital records of death. He was "of Chittenden VT" at the time of his death. Don Beebe of Calgary Canada says Lucinda was his 3rd wife and he had a second wife named Margaret M. (surname unknown). According to the 1850 census for Rutland Rufus was living with Lewis A. Beebe, age 24; Margaret Beebe, age 21 and Mary Beebe, age 87. In the 1860 census Rufus B. Beebe, age 64 and Margaret Beebe, age 63, listed occupation as farmer.
