Bush Advocate, 6 October 1904 A distressing fatal accident occurred this morning, about 8.15, by which the life of a bright little girl was instantly terminated. It appears that the deceased, Enna McLenna, aged 8 years, whose parents reside at Tepapakuku, was coming in to school, and it is supposed that while trying to put a book in a box attached to the trolley bringing in timber from the Tiratu mill, she fell, with the result that the wheel passed over her neck. The driver, Jack Stanridge, immediately brought the team to a standstill, and sent for aid. Dr Reid Mackay promptly answered the call, but was, of course, unable to afford any assistance, death having been instantaneous. It appears that the child usually rode on the trolley, but this morning expressed a wish to walk. The deceased's father is employed at the Tamaki mills and much sympathy is expressed for the parents in their sad bereavement. An inquest will be held to-morrow

- He was accidentally killed Boxing Day
Bush Advocate, 27 December 1906 The sad intelligence was brought into town yesterday morning that a young man named Ernest Morgan, aged 19, had met his death near Mr Pawson's, on the Glengarry road, through being thrown from his bicycle while descending the hill. No one was with deceased at the time of the accident, but from what we can gather deceased has been in Mr Armstrong's employment at Glengarry for about six weeks as gardener. He had arranged with his brother-in-law (Mr Jonathan, of Stanley-street), to go with him and Mrs Jonathan to the Friendly Societies' picnic at Oringi yesterday morning, and left Glengarry about 9 o'clock for that purpose. He was seen to go over the brow of the hill by Mr Beaman (another Glengarry employee) riding his bicycle at rather a fast pace. This was the last seen of him alive, and nothing further was heard of him till Mr Matthew Shaw found his body lying on the road, as he was riding into town at about 10 o'clock. From the indications on the road it is surmised that as deceased descended the hill his bicycle - which was a free wheel, with only one brake - took charge of him. After he had gone some distance he ran into the watertable and travelled down it for about 12 or 14 yards. He then appears to have struck a rata root, which was projecting from the bank. The impact, which must have been exceedingly violent, had the effect of throwing deceased some ten yards down the road, and the bicycle traveled some distance further, but from the fact that there was no evidence that deceased had moved after he fell it is surmised that death was instantaneous
