Margaret Ceridwen PLUCKNETT
Margaret was born in Bristol in 1903.
Her parents were Frederick PLUCKNETT b1869 Western Bampfield Somerset
and Lousia Jane Morris PAGE b1874 Newport Avon.(known as Lizzie)
Margaret devoted her life to nursing. In 1940, she was appointed assistant matron of Nottingham General Hospital, and one year later she became matron.
Four days later came the first air raid on Nottingham.
The war meant convoys of wounded from Dunkirk; even some German prisioners were nursed, she said a nurses first essential, is a love of humanity and to really care about others.
After 30 years of nursing she retired in 1958.
Margaret died in 2003, six months short of reaching 100 years.
