There is a Mary Ann Waterman born in Whitechapel (which is just about Spitalfields) 1867 Q4 1C 360
Matilda Waterman was born Whitechapel, 1863 Q4 1C 338
It looks like Mary Ann was born in London not Amsterdam
Matilda married Joseph KONINGSWINTER 1887 London City Q2 1C 109 : Joseph was a Diamond Polisher he was born in the Netherlands in 1862. They had a son Louis born 1890 in Spitalfields
Many thanks for prompt reply.
Levy and Betje Waterman came to the UK and left Rotterdam on the 8th September 1869.
Any of the children born prior to this date were born in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
I know the census says that Mary A. was born in Spitalfields but it must be wrong as I have a ships docket of when they left Rotterdam.
Regards
Joe Waterman
Hi Silvervixen,
I now have Mary Ann's (notice the spelling)birth certificate and indeed you are right that she was born in Spitalfields on 26th October 1867! But I still have the passenger manifest that says her parents, Levy and Betsy, left Rotterdam on the 8th September 1869 for London? Could it be that they were travelling back and forth to Amsterdam?
regards
Joe
