Hi I am descendent of Thomas Matthews and and Jane Maloney. My Great Great Grandfather their son Henry Matthews. I have sent a contact message as well. I will speak to my mum about this as she is across this information a lot more than me. on the diagram I have I don't have all the siblings of Henry.

Hi Michelle, after all this time I did not except any info on this email. I hope I am on the right tree as I have some saying that(George Matthews m Mary Ann Passfield was born at either Walhallow) was born in Maitland to Thomas Matthews and Ann Gilman/Gilliam which I can not find any records as the only ones I can find of lived in London when George was born also died there?. I hope your mum can give us some light as it would be nice to know. My mother Lorna Beryl Chapman (Matthews) daughter of William Thomas Theodore died in 2014 at the age of 96 only her sister left of that family.
Love to here from you again. Carol
Hi Carol, I am researching the Walhallow community genealogy and am a descendant of the Matthews. If you can give me your email address I can put you right on a few things and give you access to the family tree on Ancestry.
Just to get you on the right track, our original ancestor's name wasn't Matthews but actually Mather and through poor literacy and communication back in the 1800s (remember people spoke with a variety of thick accents back then too) the name eventually became recorded as Matthews - some spell it as Mathews as a result of a family feud.
Kind regards
Rosie
PS Bootha is the anglicised word for a Kamilaroi woman of a particular group (Butha) the other groups are Ipatha, Matha and Kubbitha. The group determines from which group her husband must belong in order that they can marry. (Men were grouped as Ipai, Cubby, Combo, Murri),
The Totems were Black Snake, Possum, Emu, Bandicoot, Goanna and Kangaroo.
So our ancestor, Bootha Muldowney, was a traditional Aboriginal woman and through her we witness First Contact between Aboriginals and colonials.

Hi guys,I am also a descendant of Bootha, Jane , Thomas and Henry. We have been searching for ages for the missing pieces but always hitting brick walls. Henry and Charlottes daughter, Elizabeth, is my great grandmother and we're not sure what happened there, but information was missing for years and years. I am looking forward to hearing from you with a bit more info on our family : )
Hi there, I’ve just come across this thread today. My husbands family is researching their Matthews family history. They are a descendant of William Matthews son of George and Mary Ann Matthews. We’re just looking further into George Matthews parents Thomas and Jane. We have read information in articles that mention a Eliza Gillan or Elizabeth Guest as maybe being George’s mother and not Jane? Does anyone have any information on this?
