Hello, I'm amazed to find the above information as I have not found any other researchers who are working on the Hugill family.

Elizabeth Tweedy Hugill is the sister of my great x3 grandmother - Anna Maria Hugill who married James Burgess Mills (Convict from Jedburgh Scotland.) James stole 4 sheep and was transported to Geelong, Vic in 1846. I have purchased the trial documents from the National Archives Scotland. (Approx 130 Pages) It makes amazing reading from 1844 when he was on trial.

Anna Maria Hugill and Elizabeth Tweedy Hugill were the daughters of The Rev. Joseph Hugill and Mary Walker. Joseph Hugill was a much revered Reverend and I have been working on his life story with a researcher from the UK who has done a whole webpage devoted to Joseph and his family.

Both Joseph & Mary Hugill died young, Joseph in 1842 and Mary in 1843.
They left 7 orphan children. Four of the children came to Australia.
Elizabeth, Anna Maria and their 2 brothers who became very prominent Church of England Ministers:Rev. Henry Walker Hugill and Rev. William Joseph Hugill.

It is a very interesting story, Please contact me if you would like to,
I have bought all of the certificates so can verify the marriage birth and death dates etc for you.

Kind Regards

Leanne Emmett
