Okay. Here goes:

My father was Ottis Glyn Meadows (b. 9/14/1922 in Allen County, KY). I have seen the land where he was born. It is just outside Holland, KY and one mile to the KY/TN state line toward Lafayette, TN. He married my mother, Velena Nell Gregory on Dec. 24, 1948 in Illinois. She was born in Fountain Run, KY.

His father, my grandfather was William Thompson Meador. He was born October 21, 1874 in Allen Co., KY. He married Nancy Jane Stinson (b. 1878) daughter of James Wiley Stinson and Mary M. Jent. (side note: James Wiley's father, Joel Stinson was married to Cynthia Meador (2nd wife) daughter of Pleasant Meador, making her Joel Meador's sister (perhaps, half-sister)

My great grandfather was Hiram Wilson Meador, born 1852 in Allen Co., KY. He married Sally Ann McClard, daughter of George McClard and Rachel Herold.

My gg grandfather was Joel Meador, mentioned above, b. 1824. He married Annie Jent (second wife), daughter of Thomas Gent and Angilla (Gilla) Brown.

My 3rd great grandfather was Pleasant M. Meador, b. Jan. 12, 1796 in Franklin Co., VA. He married Linnea Shaw, daughter of David Shaw and Charity Jent of North Carolina.

My 4th great grandfather was Isham Meador, b. March 20, 1760 or 62. in Bedford Co., VA. He married Obedience "Biddy" Bradshaw (first wife). Records show that he served in the Rev. War with two of his brothers. He died in 1840 in Smith Co., TN.

My 5th great grandfather was Joel Meador, b. about 1725 in Cumberland Co., VA. He married Susanna Clark.

My 6th great grandfather was Jonas Meador, b. about 1698 in Essex Co., VA. The first son of his father's 2nd marriage, and fourth son in all. He married Frances Hudgens.

My 7th great grandfather was John Meador, b. abouat 1658 in Lancaster Co., VA. He was the first son. His first wife was Elizabeth White. They had seven children before her death. His second wife, the mother of Jonas, may have been Mary "Ann" Awbrey or Aubrey. He was a tobacco planter and by the 1690's had 1095 acres of land in an area now know as Cheatwood Millpond.

My 8th great grandfather was Thomas Meador Jr. b., 1638 in VA. He married Sarah Hoskins, daughter of Bartholomew Hoskins and Dorcas Anne Isham. He was a tobacco farmer with about 620 acres, 300 of those given to him by his father.

My 9th great grandfather was Thomas Meador, b. 1612 in England. He immigrated to VA in about 1636, most probably to Jamestown. He married Sara. Her last name may have been either Yates or Wellstead. He was a tobacco farmer at a farm at what is now called Islington Landing.

This is what I have at this time, and I am still fact checking a lot of it, but it is a start. Hope I didn't bore you.

On a side note, my father's twin sister Audrey Lynn Meadows was married to Eugene Franklin, who was also from that area of KY. Eugene's sister Norma was married to my mother's uncle, JV Garmon.

Thank you for this great information and for your response. I am new at this so I may be a little slow right now.

It appears that you and I share Isham Meador (1762 VA) as your 4th and my 5th great grandfather.

The records I have show that Isham(4) (your 4th grandfather) had a son name John Moses (Jack) Meador. This was Pleasant Green Meador's father. Pleasant Green Meador was my 3rd, Jack was my 4th, and Isham was my 5th great grandfather. I know that "Jack" existed from my family's anecdotes and tales and aunts and uncles that knew him. I am the youngest of the youngest of Moses M. Meador my 1st grandfather. There were 10 children in that family. My father was the youngest born in 1920.

The lineage records I have match from your 9th to your 4th, all the way through Isham(4) but after that there appears to be a branch for which I do not have any records. I do not have records of Pleasant M. Meador's parents nor of his descendants. I have no references to Pleasant M. Meador.

Feel free to email me directly at mm@meadmj.org. I would like to build a comprehensive genealogy. Whenever I can make a connection to the tree, I would like to include that/those individuals. Any help in doing so is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for your response and you effort.

Sincere best regards.

Michael J. Meador
