Robert H. COTTER married Martha A. BROWNING in 1870s Sullivan County, Missouri. The couple had a son named James William, born in 1882, probably in Linn County, Missouri. James married Anna Lee KENLEY, born in 1883, in Sullivan County, daughter of Hiram KENLEY and Eliza A or J. KNIFONG. James and Anna migrated with their children to Walla Walla County, Washington, Lane County, Oregon and Stanislaus County, California.
