If you know that Bruce Laidlaw Mobbs married Margaret Baldwin won't his fathers name be on the marriage certificate.

Can you gave a little more information like where and when were they married, or anything you have on Bruce, birth year and where he was born, every little detail helps in the search.

Hello, Bruce was born about 1935. He died in 1989. Margaret Anne Mobbs died 1997. Bruce lived for many years in Belfield, Sydney. He is my first cousin.
There is confusion re names. There is a Thomas Edward Mobbs birth certificate I have...parents John Mobbs and Annie O'Neill.
There is a death notice for John Edward Mobbs in Queensland...son of John Mobbs and Annie O'Neill.
I suspect Thomas Edward is in fact John Edward...there seems to be an error on the birth certificate.

I still feel your best option is to purchase the marriage certificate for Bruce Laidlaw Mobbs and Margaret Baldwin to confirm his fathers details.

The Thomas Edward Mobbs and John Edward Mobbs sons of John Mobbs and Annie O'Neill could possibly be brothers it is not uncommon for parents to give the same middle names.

John Stephenson James Mobbs and Annie Theresa O'Neill married in 1902 in Lismore NSW.

Three other children of the above pair have died Leona d1912, Kevin d1918 and Walter d1974 all in the Northern NSW Queensland area plus John Edward in 1960 Queensland.

Bruce's death certificate could also give you some clues as to his parents. You can also order a transcript from Joy cheaper than the certificate.

John spent quite a few times in Hospital from "Gassing" during his service he died from his exposure in 1944 in Concord. I can only presume that he died in the 113th Military Hospital(Concord Hospital) as did many others.

JSJ Mobbs was my grandfather he was married to Annie O'Neill. Their children were Thomas Owen, then Thomas Edward / John Edward, Freida Mary (my mother), Charles, Athol and Monica. Eugene and Leona died quite young.

Bruce Laidlaw Mobbs, Next of kin on Kevin Joohn Mobb is listed as his brother. It sort of makes you wonder if John & Annie are his parents I'm beginning to really doubt it, but you will have to dig further.

Hello again...I do have the birth certificate for Thomas Edward Mobbs..May 15 1905...parents John Stephenson Mobbs and Annie Teresa O'Neill...Ballina.

The names I provided for the children of John and Annie are accurate.

I also have the death certificate of Annie Theresa Mobbs...June o8, 1952. The children include John E age 47?

I've been having a hunt around. If Kevin John Mobbs b17 July 1924 in Mitchell is Bruce's brother. Then you need to find out who Kevin's parents are.

Possibility that these two are BUT!!won't know unless you again purchase Kevin's birth transcript, or John Edwards or even Hilda's death certificate.

In 1924 John Edward Mobbs married Hilda Violet Dahren in Queensland.

According to Electoral Rolls for John & Hilda

1930 - St George Darling Downs - fettler
1936 - 1943 Pittsworth via Toowoomba Railway Employee (same as Kevin's information for next of kin on Naval papers)

Hilda died 17 June 1943 Queensland.

1949 Pittsworth - he is Hairdresser!!!!
